Chad Kroeger Addresses Ban Nickelback Campaign: “I Think It’s Hilarious”

Chad Kroeger has responded to a Kickstarter campaign, hoping ban Nickelback from performing in London again.

Last week, Craig Mandell set up ‘Don’t Let Nickel Back’, in an attempt to ensure that “Canadian “rockers” Nickelback do not come to London, England to play a gig.” Unsurprisingly, the Kickstarter hasn’t particularly got anywhere in terms of preventing Nickelback from coming to the capital – but it did reach the ears of frontman Chad Kroeger.

The singer said in an interview: “I love it. More controversy that surrounds either myself, my personal life, the band, whatever – I think it’s hilarious.”

“All these critics, they’re just tireless,” he added. “They keep ragging on the band. If they had stopped writing all this stuff about us, there would be no controversy left in the band and we probably would have died out years ago. They don’t know that they’re still responsible for us being around today.”

Chad concluded: “I hope the money goes to charity and not in this guy’s pocket.”

Not only did news of the ‘Don’t Let Nickel Back’ campaign reach Nickelback’s mainman himself, it also came to the attention of UK hardcore mob The Hell – who actually went to the effort of covering How You Remind Me. Check it out below…

“WE SAW ALL THE PETITIONS AND CROWDFUNDS AND SHIT GOING AROUND TO STOP THE NICKELBACKS PLAYING IN THE UK SO WE THOUGHT WE’D GIVE THE FANS SOMETHING TO ENJOY,” the band announced on their Facebook page. “I DON’T GET THE HATE ON THEM PERSONALLY, I MEAN MY MUM AND ALL HER OLDER MATES LOVE THE NICKELBACKS PLUS I READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT HOW COCKER SPANIEL ADOPTIONS HAVE QUADRUPLED SINCE THE NICKELBACKS HIT THE CHARTS”
