Avenged Sevenfold’s Syn Gates suffered a “pretty severe” leg injury onstage, but band won’t cancel shows

Following a killer first night of tour in Camden, New Jersey, Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Synyster Gates injured his leg onstage the following evening, and the band had to cut their set short.

Posting on their Discord after the gig at Mansfield’s Xfinity Center on July 19, frontman M. Shadows clarified that Syn suffered “a pretty severe contusion of his calf”.

“He’s got crutches and can’t walk on it at the moment. Gonna be sore for a few days,” the singer said.

“Doc said it could be from dehydration, possibly last night’s show, the heat and not enough water today. Bottom line is he’s watching it closely and hopefully be able to stand on it soon.”

With lots more shows still to play in support of their new album Life Is But A Dream…, M. Shadows also added: “We aren’t cancelling. LOL.”

Taking to Twitter, the guitarist posted his thanks to fans for their love with the message: “Ding dong Why so long? Slappy tappy End of song Thanks for the support everyone. Love, Syn”
