Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx has been hard at work on 'The Heroin Diaries: A Year In The Life Of A Shattered Rock Star', a combined solo album and book which will be released in September.
The release was inspired by the journals Sixx kept during his well-documented heroin addiction during the '80s.
In a post in his online diary, the bassist explains that his first single from the album, 'Funeral', is really "a celebration about being alive." The rock star hopes that the release of the album and book will increase "awareness on drug and alcohol addiction" and will also help raise money for Nikki's fundraising initiative, Running Wild In The Night, that helps keep children off the street.
