MCR to start work on new album

My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has revealed to Kerrang! that the New Jersey emo quintet are itching to begin work on their follow-up to 2006's 'The Black Parade'.

"It feels like it's about the right time to be making a new record," says Way. "Maybe that's because 'The Black Parade' was talked about for so long before it was released, but it feels like that album's been out for a long time now. We're already on our fourth single and we've played a lot of shows.

"'The Black Parade' was the kind of record that you make but don't necessarily have a burning desire to perform, because its creation was almost the point," he adds. "It was such an intense experience to make it, that there was almost a feeling of wanting to move on as soon as we released it. It was so artistically ambitious that it made us want to keep on creating."

The band are spending the summer around the States on Projekt Revolution with Linkin Park. Wonder if they'll bump into Chester's stalker...

That's great news! I think TBP has "had its day" now really, I hope they take some influence from their older material, I can't get enough of their first two albums. I hope they don't become too "user friendly" and just make music to please people, it's all about writing and performing something you beleive in, which I beleive they have done from the beginning, and should continue to do!

well how much more can mcr give ? black parade not being up to scratch as three cheers for sweet revenge ( now that album rocked ) dnt get me wrong there latest album was pretty good but all these bands keep moving foward onto different sounds and there songs seem to get in to deep ( no one proberly gets me but oh well haha ) but i relli cnt wait to c how gd this album is actually is !

mcr's music has been upgrading ever since. I'm eager to hear more of their stuff so this is good news for me! I don't understand people who criticise even before the new album is out. If the new one turns out to be crap, then people should criticise.

YAY! i was reallllllyyyyy surprised to hear this, as they only released TBP towards the end of last year. i think its a bit soon to release another album, but who knows how long they'll take to write it.

the only thing that annoys me is ppl complaining that their sound has changed. thats what bands are meant to do! u dont want them to stay stagnant. the fact that mcr are able to write+play versatile music just shows how talented they are, unlike some bands/artists who remain the same over the years, their songs no different from one album to the next. BORING!!

i luv all three albums, and im sure ill luv the next. cant wait!

The Black Parade Was An Amazing Album With Songs That Were Truly Inspiring.
But Do You Not Notice How Different MCR Are Getting?
"Bullets" Would Probably Be My Favorite Album Because I Feel That This Is How MCR Started And Will Forever Be. But Since "The Black Parade" Im Getting The Feeling That They Are gonna Change. Which Hopefully Could Be For The Better.
But Secretly Im Praying That This New Album Will Let Bring The Old MCR Back (And Hopefully Mikey Too).

I can't wait, but I can't help wondering what it will be like without Mikey Way.

I was extremely impressed with 'The Black Parade', but as Garry mentioned, there is the tendency for the material to have an element of repetition.

THANK FUCK FOR THAT! my god i am getting bored of the black parade. its amazing, end of, but its still not as good as the first album, how the hell can you beat a track like Vampires will never hurt you?
im very excited to see what direction theyre going to take, its ben this wierd journey from kinda punky to all gothy and poppy and cult to mainstream...the black parade is just the swishy cabaret Rock album to top it off, icing so to sepak.
Lets hope the next album delves back into "honey this mirror aint bigh enough..." territory. thatd make me very happy.
AND WHY WIL THEY NEVER PLAY HEADFIRST FOR HALOS ANYMORE? boohoo!

Woo kool i luv u mcr make a good album but dont try to follow up the black parade that b bad do something differnt but still mcr! And if any 1 wondern wat it b like without mikey dont he comein bak i sure gerard said that he was takin a break and frank said that he will b comin bak soon and also there hav been no offical news on mcr website sayin he left and i am sure they would if he did! I wonder wat album 4 will b like!
and if it sounded like 3 cheers and bullets then i hope it dont cause that mean they r playin safe and that not mcr at all and then they wont b very special! I hope they do somethin over the top and differnt!!

um hello a band moves on jeez if every album sounded the same then the wouldnt b as special as they r i luv mcr and the black parade was wat got me in to rock music and that why i luv it so much but i also luv there last 2 albums they rule but they r honestry u cant compare them bcause they r all so differnt and i hope the next 1 differnt because if it isnt then i will lose respect 4 them i luv every song by mcr on the black and three cheers and i luv most of the bullets songs and they r all differnt not 1 sounds the same

YES! Looking forward to it guys........I hope it is so different to the Black Parade, I love it when an artist releases an album so different to their last one. MCR rock. Literally. Good luck guys. TEENAGERS WAS AMAZIN! Even my friend who hates most of the music I like (except for evanescence) liked that song. HA. I'm worried though because even my nan and dad like that song :S

As for the rumors that My Chemical Romance had begun writing material for the follow-up to 2006's The Black Parade, Way said there's no truth to them.

"We're not working on a record," he said. "We're touring and getting some distance from writing music. We'll finish out touring, take a break and then come back and write. It will be quite awhile before there's another My Chemical Romance album. We said a lot of what we wanted to say with Black Parade, so we're going to have to find something completely new to say, and that could take some living, some touring, some hardships. It's all about finding what the next thing is for yourself, for your band, and we're still searching for that. We'll be searching for a while, I think."

I found this on mtv...its confusing me very much,so i dont know which of these news are fake?
but anyway,mcr makes me confused a couple of times,like right now,and sometimes i get a little bit scared about what they sometimes sayin.
"so we're going to have to find something completely new to say, and that could take some living, some touring, some hardships" - uhh thats kinda terrifying...when i read this i was like "WTF is that the end of the whole bullets and revenge thing they did before?" I mean The Black Parade was an almost completely change from the old stuff they made,only the main theme was still the same.thats not bad so far,but what if the black parade is the end of everything they were once?

they have thought of bits for the new album yes
but the new album wont be out till 2009

I'm pretty sure thats false. becuase at T in the park there was an interview with Ray and he said that they were gonna d oProjekt Rev in the US, a couple of small tours and then get deeper into writing for the new album. And Gerard sounds eager to start work on a new album. and after all they have already toured a lot as the Black Parade. They probably would've made that piece of news public as well, if they had already made a statement saying they were going to start work soon.

Lemme ask a question?

What is so god damn appealing to all you guys?
Is it the fact you get to be in your own little club? the MCRamy...or whatever, is it that special little thing that makes you like them even more?

Or is it because MCR rip off so many of their own influences?
Surely sounding EXACTLY like some of your influences ...or copying some of the aspects at least. [ie. the black mask type thing Gerard does - AdamAnt did it first. Or the Queen like cresendo in whats it called..... The single thing you know "when i was a young boy...blah blah"]

I just don't get the obsession?
I understand that everyone likes different things...but everyone seems to be obsessed?

Hey, I'm not "flaming" anyone, because I'm not someone who hates a band for its image...I truely just don't like the music...I gave it a shot, but I find its too...pop like, for me anyway. [I'm much more interested in Bleeding Through, Cradle of Filth, Manson etc].
I don't really care if you like MCR or not...but, I just want to understand the "culture" a little more.

Everyone I know who likes them is completely obsessed, and treats their tour like a pilgramage, not being able to die before they see them at least once.
Every single, album and DVD has to be brought - normal + bonus versions.
But why? why waste your money?
It's not like MCR NEED the money anyway - they could probably live off the money that you spend on the various merch.

People have told me that its the fact that MCR "give advice through their lyrics and don't just whine..."
...but other bands do that too?

Someone enlighten me?
because to be quite frank I'm getting quite sick of hearing their name, its appearing everywhere, Kerrang has become as obsessed as you guys, even Metal Hammer has had at least one interview.

It wouldn't suprise me if they made a movie.

Can I just say that I understand what your asking and I realise that its what most are asking what with this idiotic hate parade against the emos (MCR being classed as emos)

I completely understand because I know that they are basically like everything else lately but I think. The fact that there ARE so many haterz towards emos.. that they find something like Salvation in MCR like a shoulder to lean on if you get me. Its like.. security in a world that hates them for showing that.. yes the have emotions... I guess its them being able to relate to the lyrics of being rejected and outcast.

I May be reading too far into this. But I really do think that if people like this type of band. Then why not do interviews in magazines.. if thats whats going to sell. I was also quite suprised by your... "and treats their tour like a pilgramage" part

Ok. If you liked a band. and In fact. they gave you security every time you listened to them. would you not then go out and buy their cd. or see them in concert. Yes if you didnt see a band that was say your favourite band... you would want a chance to see them. And dont ridicule them for wanting to see their band.

I love all three albums
revenge was my favorite, but i actually hope they don't go back to that, because the band needs to keep growing, and no matter what they do, it'll be awsome. I just don't want it to get repetitive

I have heard that they began writing, and I was excited. Their music is amazing, and its just makes me wonder what it will be about next. The Black Parade was AMAZING, even though they tried something diff, it was still amazing. They put sooooo much effort into it. I love MCR, and I love their music, its a great inspiration, and its music I enjoy lots. When their new album is out, im there!!!!
