Slipknot man promises brutal new album in '08

Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison has revealed to K! that the follow-up to their 2004 effort 'Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)' will be the heaviest of their 12-year career.

"It's going to be heavy as fuck!" smiles Jordison. "It's going to be heavier than 'Vol. 3...' but just as weird and as experimental. We have a whole bunch of song titles, but nothing I wanna say right now."

The sticksman - currently filling in for Korn drummer David Silveria, who has been on hiatus from the Bakersfield nu-metallers since the beginning of the year - will be touring with the band until October.

"I'm having a blast out on the road," says Jordison. "I'll be on the whole Family Values run in the US with Korn over the summer and we've got some Brazilian dates in August and September. The Korn guys are really laid back and the shows have been killer, but in October we'll be starting a new Slipknot chapter."

Jordison will regroup with his Slipknot bandmates to begin writing material for their fifth studio album with a view to recording in January.

"I've talked to the other guys a bunch of times over the last few months about the new album," he explains. "I've told them to demo whatever they can so we've got as much material to chose from as possible. So be warned 2008 is going to be all about Slipknot!"

Joey has pointed out that the new chapter will begin on October and start recording on approx. January.
Furthermore, TRIVIUM aren't good anymore compared to before... there new album was a completely different direction. It was way too melodic and there wasn't any grit or heaviness in the distortion or the drums. In fact, the drums are crap compared to before, 'Pull Harder on ....' s drum intro was SICKKKKK! now they are like pussies compared to MACHINEHEAD!!!!! FUCK YEAH! BLACKENING!

It will be their 5th album.

Their eponymous album was actually the 2nd SLIPKNOT album.
They recorded as a 5 piece (iirc) for the album MATEKILLFEEDREPEAT before they hit the bigtime with their newer sound.

The heavier the better I've always said. I've always looked fer the heaviest shit 'n no one's topped ANY of Slipknot's shit with the exception of Pantera who in my eyes matches them by heavyness especially the heaviest album of '95 "The Great Southern Trendkill". But other then them NO ONE's ever come close to Slipknots speed metal. One last note cograde Joey on the award fer fastest drumer ever 'n U R the Fuckin' Sickest there is on the set!

First off, I am excited about the new album! WoOhOo! That aside, people keep talking about IOWA being their debut, NO ITS NOT! Their first label release was titled SLIPKNOT. Hello, how can you forget Wait and Bleed and Spit it Out?! Like someone said before, only true maggots know about MFKR. When the first dvd came out, they played a couple songs from it. Please, do some reseaech on Slipknot, then call yourselves maggots! As for heaviness, MFKR is the heaviest, and it goes down from there. I hope its heavier than IOWA! Then I will be hearing the sounds I fell in love with!

actually no it's not cause of MFKR dumbass. corey wasn't in that record so they don't count that cd. It was a pretty shitty cd. the fourth studio album is 9.0 Live, cause they had to mix shit in the studios for the final copies to be released. so fuck off casey.

Who can say with straight face that vol.3 was "heavy". Fuckin' pussy shit! Even Iowa was a little soft. They"ve gone in a new direction since the self titled album, and that's cool, as long as you faggots don't tout it as "heavy". The self titled album is nearly untouchable. Pantera, Fear Factory, Slayer, Sepultura might be able to get a word in edgewise. Anyway I'll keep a close eye out at the next show for you pussy ass cocksuckers. it doesn't reli matter what number album this is, its a new slipknot album and its going to be insane.

but for the people that still seem to care, their list of albums so far is;
1. Crowz (never released)
2. MFKR (self released)
3. Self - Titled (1st major label)
4. IOWA (2nd major label)
5. Vol.3 (3rd major label)
6. Live 9.0 (Not really studio)

(im not sure where the demo fits in)

so the people saying it's their 4th are talking about major label albums and the people saying 5 are talking about studio albums but why should it matter

and also, don't expect this to be a repeat of IOWA or self-titled, it wont, it'll be different no matter what so approach it with an open mind. bands are always changing, if they werent they would get boring and youd probably critisize them for that

so like the rest of u i can't wait for the album, im going to love it for what it is

This album should be really good i liked IOWA and Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses havent heard much of slipknot and the live one but im sure there good. i do agree that they are a bit overated but like you cant hate a band for having a big fan base so i think they still fgukin rock. i wouldnt say there the heaviest band ever far from it there and millions of more insane bands than them not sayin many of them are better but thyere heavier

I hope the new album is heavier than their last album, Vol. 3. That album was mainstream and weak. I mean, come on, it didn't even have a parental advisory sticker! Probably so that they could sell it to all their new 10-15 yr old snot-nosed fans...probably most of the posters on this message board!!!Until I read Joey's comments, I was worried that Slipknot's next album would be "Slipknot: Unplugged", played in a plush studio set surrounded by candles! I was expecting to hear some of the soft tracks on mix radio top 40 BS! IOWA stands as one of the truly great albums of all time, regardless of genre. Now, if they can equal or exceed that album, THAT would be f-in' ridiculous! If it is, then I hope they stay together, if it is like the last pablum album, then break up and do your weak, sell out pop shit like Stone Sour!

i can see where you're comming from, Iowa is also my all time favorite album and can't say I wasn't a bit disapointed with Vol.3, and the fact that it didn't have a PA sticker really confused me and it was actually the first thing I noticed,and when i pushed the play button on my cd player I was dreading of what is going to come out of it... but I think if you appreciate one band, it's true talent, effort and strenght, you can stop overanalysing and just let the music speak for itself...couse there is some great music on that album also...not heavy music...but great music...still respect them and i just hope they keep their promise...

Man this album is gonna be fuckin awsum... i have loved everything they have released soo far except for 9.0 live... corey vocals sucked that entire tour... but his voice is getting better again... i saw stonesour play back in may and his voice is sounding nice again... I even met corey, Jim, Josh and roy from stonesour when they came to perth!!! got there autographs and all... well i didnt get roys because he couldnt find a pen(damn!!) Personally, I didn't like Volume 3 very much. I didn't find it heavy and I thought that some of it sounded a bit stone sour-ish. However, I'm glad to hear that there will be a new album in 2008 because I really love all the rest of the albums, and the fact that he says it's going to be experimental is good; people don't want to hear an uninspired record on which every track sounds the same.

ill be honest with everyone i started listening to slipknot only this past year. i was one of those people who at first judged them before i actually listened to them.. once i first heard the self titled slipknot album it blew my fuckin mind man. iowa was fuckin sic brutal. vol. 3 was awesome too and it kinda showed the all around skill of the band..like i said im kinda a new maggot but if u understand what this group is about then u can appreciate the music a whole lot more. slipknot is one of the best fuckin bands i ever heard. cant wait till the new album its gonna be sic!

Their new album set to release in 2008 is not their fifth studio album, its their fourth. 9.0 Live was obviously a "live" album, and it isnt a studio album.

THEIR 4TH STUDIO ALBUM (YES.... 4TH)....WILL BE RELEASED THIS SUMMER (2008)

CROWZ Wasnt an album. Was a demo......a collection of tracks.

MFKR is not technically an album.
Also....only 1000 copies were ever released, at Clowns wishes.
There are many fakes/bootlegs of it, especially on ebay. 99% of them are.
A genuine copy recently sold for over $600 !!

If the band wanted MFKR available to people, or if they wanted it to be included in their catalogue, then they would have called Sub.Verse vol4 instead...AND would have re-released MFKR by now.
The fact that they HAVEN'T says it all really.

MFKR and the live ones dont count becuase they werent in studio so they arent "studio albums"
but still i CANT wait for that new cd ill be first in line in my shitty ass town.

ive been waiting for so fucking long to have SlipKnoT back!
to see Joey's prittyfull mask so like the otheres but diffrent in somanny ways... but after going on there myspace and seeing there new pics... im kinda diserpointed... its like they dont wanna be SlipKnoT anymore... vol:3 was a let down compaired to Self titeled and Iowa... i really hope im just reading to much in to it, and this album will KICK ASS! and br there (SIC)'s album yet!

yea i know on youtube i tried to lick up slipknot's new single... ballet music came up!! i was like wtf??? and then i realized tht they would NEVER do tht so.... and i bought tix for pavillion aug.3.... to mayhem fest!!!! so really its all adding up- tix,new cd, and (sic)ness. im not a teen... and i litsen to hard core music. stay sic o yea and the album better be AWESOME!!! they,we,are all maggots 4 life...
