The return of Tarja Turunen

Following her high-profile split with Nightwish in October 2005, the band's former frontwoman, Tarja Turunen, is set to return with a new solo studio album in November.

The Finnish singer has inked a world-wide deal with Universal Music and is currently working with Faith No More producer Daniel Presley on her new solo album 'My Winter Storm'.

"Some of these new songs are already sending shivers down my spine," says Turunen. "They're awakening me to a new way of living, a way that I've never experienced before."

'My Winter Storm' will be released in the UK on November 12 through Spinefarm Records and will be preceded by the single 'I Walk Alone' in October.

Now THIS is just what Amy Lee should be doing I think - releasing a solo album. Sure I like Evanescence but she really is the visual point of the band and the rest of the band tend to go unoticed which is a shame really, I have nothing against Lee but I just think that she might be better of as a soloist instead. :]

Well let's see first what Tarja will make with this album. From all the news from the blog I am sure that it will be a masterpiece. A new stile!
And about the ego thing please read the opinions from both sides not just from one side.
And yes NW still rocks without Tarja but my opinion is that they are not that good without her.

I'm glad that tarja hasn't let the whole nightwish thing get her down. i got into nightwish a few month ago, from what i've read she has a big ego problem, but i only read once side of the argument n there's no escaping the fact that she has a great voice and nightwish will never be the same without her, i think they sound more like within temptation now (don't get me wrong, anette has a great voice!), tarja's voice made the band seem unique.

Well i heard the new nightwish album Dark Passion Play and it rocks so those who havent heard it dont make Judgement till you heard of it, its the best Nightwish album as far as i'm concerned, hmm tarja album gonna check that as well. NIGHTWISH HAVE MOVED ON SO HAS TARJA so how about give it a rest just enjoy the music by both sides

oh god ....... another one,
why cant she just crawl into a pit of oblivion along with evanesance (dont care that i dont know how to spell their name) lacuna coil, paramore nightwish and any within temptation and just die !!!!
iv nothing against female singers, kittie are ok, but these bands just out right suck and are only popular because 13 yr old boys enjoy wanking over a 30 something yr old quote unquote goth woman, and girls for some reson asprie to be them :-S
im lost, i just hope all the fads die soon and people discover good music soon ........ go listen to dark tranquility or behemoth or just something better than this crap that kerrang shove down your throat !!!!!!

I never fucking did, and i adore nightwish
Not because of her being a female singer, but because the music actually has some fucking emotion behind it.

And in Nightwish Tarja wasn't that emotion, she's an absolute wanker to be honest, after everything that happened in the last year she was in the band is enough to show her that she's a twat
+ her solo stuff is shit.

No i dont think Amy Lee should go solo at all.
She has too much inspiration in Evanescence and in Evanescence she has the chance to do whatever she wants anyway.
So She's perfectly happy with her status in the band.

Its come to my mind, you dont have a clue.

The Female lead singer bands are ALL completey different styles and types of music. and Paramore to Within Temptation.. well, are you just so blind to not see they are VERY different types of music?

Im a big fan of Evanescence, and few of what you said, and to see you slagging them off when its clear your talking from your backend. like i said, think before you comment.

Also, if you dont like things like this, why post in the thread. it is pointless.

firstly i am aware that the bands i listed are differant styles, and i can arpreciate more then one style i listen to behemoth, killswitch, massive attack, get it from one exrtrem to the other.
iand you clearly know how to defennd these bands oh ...... your talking out your backend. first its caled an asshole. next you cant come p with a better way to defend these bands as you know deep inside you they are crap.

I think Amy Lee is solo anyway to be fair. bet not one of us could name any of Evanescences band members apart from her. I am looking forward to Taja's new album although I think it will be a very short career as her rep is tarnished with how much of a bitch she was in Nightwish

funnily enough i only stopped listening to 'nemo' and i read this so im still in the mood of the song she is an amazing singer and i think it would be a shame if she didn't get back in the studio and blast it out

Let's be honest, anything any of us have heard or read about Tarja's ego is only hearsay - none of us have spent time with her or know her personally. On stage, she's great with audiences, and isn't that what matters? Nightwish's firing of her was (if reports are to be believed) pretty callous, which is a shame after everything they achieved together.

Having an ego never hurts - how many great bands have had a huge ego driving them?

For me though, Nightwish have made a big mistake - the results of their new line-up don't sound all that good - not awful, just sort of ho hum. It seems obvious that what made Nightwish unique amongst all the female-fronted symphonic/gothic metal bands out there was Tarja's voice - looking forward to hearing her own material.
