Panic! scrap new album

Panic! At The Disco have scrapped a large part of their upcoming second album.

"It didn't really sound like a band, it sounded like a film score," guitarist Ryan Ross tells MTV. "We decided to ditch the whole project and just start playing as a band. It's been a lot better."

Errr... have you guys even listened to Panic's album? Or did you just hear 1 song on the radio once? If there are any other bands out there who have songs which are a mixture of rock, cabaret and dance beats, I'd be very very interested to hear who they are.
And even if you manage to think of one, I hardly think that's "every band out there".
Duuuh think before you type.

I think "Nine in the Afternoon" is an amazingly good song, first single maybe? It's certainly given me high hopes for the record. Although that "Middle of Summer" one is a bit boring :s

Also I hope they put "True Love" on there as well, although I have a nasty feeling that may have been one of the ones that they've scrapped... it was certainly a bit quirky.

And moria, you're right, it IS old news :) And the album IS out early next year. Hurrah! And possibly a Feb tour I might have heard... yay.

I heard that there whole new album is about FOOD! yeah? lol! i can't wait to hear it, i still can't get over how good the last album was'a fever you can't sweat out' its amazing!! Its a shame that Brendon still can't pronounce those relly long words they had in most there songs! lol!

ok, so does that mean that all the new songs theyve been playing are scraped or...? o well at least this means theyve been thinkin about the songs quite alot, maybe this means that the new album will be better

i liked what fan are calling "Nine in the Afternoon" but wasn't entirely sure about the other new song theyve played ... they just seemed too different i know if you have album after album sounding the same its boring but i still want it to sound like the old panic!

o and the thing about thw whole album being about food, im pretty sure that was a joke...would be funny thou a concept album about food lol!

Why did They leave it this far into the process to scrap half the album? They should have reviewed all the material before hand instead of leaving it this long. It's gonna take way longer now to re do the whole thing./

I have no respect for this band but that 1st record is awesome, so many catchy beats and as soon as I read articles about them saying that they wanted to go for a "radio head" direction I got scared. The reaction to the songs at decaydance fest was enough of an indication for themselves that they had dropped the ball. Stick to what your good at boys look at all the other bands who were on a winner and then lost it "Finch" "Saves the day"(In Reverie) album "Hopesfall". I know some bands change direction successfully but as musicians Panic aren't good enough to do a 360 they play catchy power pop which they should keep to x

I'm honestly not surprised they've dropped the album (whether it's their choice or not is another matter). I saw them supporting FOB at the Decaydance Fest in London where they played a couple of new songs, n I thought they were awful - very piano-based, and boring and un-catchy compared to the energy of A Fever ... Let's hope they get it right second time round ...

It really annoys me when people stereotype a band/person as emo, it's ridiculous. You could probably class alot of bands as being 'emo' because they put emotion into they're lyrics. I'd rather listen to P!ATD than some crappy R 'N' B artists who rap about sex and drugs.

damn, i was waiting for a new album and now they just dash it in the bin! Actually, I think that it's good that they didn't just release the album. If they're unhappy with it and want to get the album right, then good for them. And wow... Panic! have so many haters. I.. yeah okay. Anyways, the album will be released early next year. And I know that for a fact.

Don't hassle them, they've been working on the new album for AGES, including getting rid of an album and writing a whole new one as mentioned in the topic above. And they've already finished the new album, they're just fixing it up to make sure it's perfect.
