Fred Mascherino quits Taking Back Sunday

Taking Back Sunday guitarist/co-vocalist Fred Mascherino has left the group.

In an online statement, the band announced:

"After four great years and two successful gold albums together, Fred has decided to leave Taking Back Sunday to pursue his solo career. We wish him well and we are working on the next Taking Back Sunday album as we speak. We wanted to let you guys know and then get back to working on the music. No drama, just riffs."

Fred will be concentrating on his new project The Color Fred, releasing his debut album, Bend To Break, through Equal Vision in the UK on November 5.

I also wish him well. Atleast he didn't decide to leave at a more awkward time or under worse circumstances :)

That's really hard to imagine. Adam and his vocals sounded soooo good together. I'm looking forward to who the replacement will be.

how could he leave? that's fucked up. thats like saying adam lazzara is gay its unbelievalble and unexpected...i never thought i'd see the day when some1 leaves tbs...it just cant be happening and i dont think the replacement guitarist will even amount to the standards of fred...this is a really really sad day for taking back sunday...goodbye fred...and just a quick word for pooja lakhani.... i am so sorry, you'll learn to live without them i know i will

um..
didn't john nolan AND jesse lacey both leave tbs?
and some other gents too...

fred was excellent
but john was just...just phenomenal.

i say bring back the days of TAYF.

WYWTB and LN are both good albums but TAYF was just genius.
and the duel vocals between john and adam on cute without the e
INSANE.

It looks like my favourite band are over, they lose nolan and cooper and now Fred, they have had an amazing Fred but they got lucky with finding him because he was such a good replacement for Nolan but now try and replace Fred, it's going to be impossible unless their style changes completely

I recon they should somehow get John back. He was what made tbs amazing in the first place- I love Fred, but John was where it's at.

Mind you I expect that'll be sorta hard/impossible since he left cos he hated them...and he's probs really happy with Straylight..

That is nuts news though. No Fred, no John...yikes, I can't see how the band dynamic will work if they just truck on without him

Oh jeez.
I didn't know that yet.
That's pretty crazy.
TBS and no Fred? "/
I wish him the best with his solo career, but still... it's Fred Mascherino... he's supposed to be with TBS! I never even got to see him in concert! *pouts*

Good luck to TBS without Fred, as well!

Let's face it neither of the 2 albums amounted to 'tell all your friends' when John Nolan was guitar and co vocals!!I think without him tbs might be able to get back to better times!!!

Definately bring vack TAYF, and lets not forget the best song ever writtnen by them, Great Romances Of The 20th Century!! Absolutely superb!!

Fred Mascherino.
He has been quite the inlfuence, quite the pro with TBS.
Yes, John Nolan did well, but Fred sure as hell outdid him.

Fred, We all wish you well, but I have to add that TBS won't be the same without you.

Adam, Matt, Eddie, hope you guys find someone who can live up to the standards that Fred has set.

TBS were so much better before Fred so although he was an adequate replacement the last two albums haven't come close to matching TAYF even if they did sell more copies.
