Theaudition have just put the finishing touches to their second full-length album, a follow-up to 2005's successful Controversy Loves Company.
Kerrang! can exclusively reveal the new record will be titled El Champion, and that the Chicago five-piece laid down the upcoming 10-track collection in a studio in New Windsor, New York. Chatting to K!, drummer Ryan O'Connor tells us just what fans can expect from that difficult second album.
"This album is more sexual," reveals O'Connor. "It's a big change of pace, and I'd say it has a lot more soul too it too. Every song is a little bit different but it's weird because they all fit together and it flows well.
"This record is a lot more us and we feel like it's our time," he adds. "We wrote an album that we really love and we really believe in and there's not a song on the record that we don't like. We really feel like we've put everything into this and this is the best that we've done yet. We think people are really gonna enjoy it."
The band have already given fans a little taster of new material, playing new tunes Edinboro and first single Warm Me Up on their current US tour.
"It's great to play something new and people at the shows have really been digging it," says O'Connor. "We honestly want to try to play every song live, I think they're gonna be great. We're just extremely excited about the album and we can't wait for more people to hear it!"
El Champion is due out at the end of January 2008 through Victory Records.
