Cancer bats in the studio

Canadian hardcore kids the Cancer Bats are all set and ready for album two.

Following the success of 2006's Birthing The Giant, the four-piece are all set to enter the Vespa Studios in Ontario to get cracking on the next release.

"We have 13 new songs and four covers ready to go," reveals vocalist Liam Cormier. "We are recording in the same studio as last time, but this time around, we are actually going to kind of be producing it ourselves!"
Counting on the trusted opinions of friends and relatives, the Bats are already excited about the material they have created.

"Everyone that listens to it thinks that it's way heavier," says the frontman, "and we have got a lot better at writing. Lyrically, I'm trying not to make the whole thing too dark, because I really like the aspect of our band being a lot of fun. I like that we can look at a lot of negative situations really positively. We are fun-loving people and we couldn't write a bum-out album about how life sucks!"
Instead the full-length looks set to deal with issues like touring life... and fangs!

"It's about embracing those things that fuck up your life, like being in a band," he says. "Then, there's also a song about vampires - inspired by ['80s classic] The Lost Boys! Bring it on!"
