Metallica: Westlife are fans!

It seems metal fans are hiding in the most unlikely places!

In an interview with The Sun newspaper last week, Irish boy-band singer and Westlife member Kian Egan revealed his unexpected music tastes!

“The music I listen to at home is very different from Westlife,” he revealed. “I love Metallica. I loved them when I was younger and that’s the kind of music I choose to listen to on my iPod.”

We can't wait to see Kian sporting a nice black Master Of Puppets T-shirt at his next gig!

to be fair, its more likely to be true if they're admitting it to a newspaper like the sun ('newspaper' used as loosely as possibly) whose target audience probably listen to 'oasis - wonderwall' on loop all day, everyday, than it would be if they were to say that in an interview with someone like Kerrang.

whats unbelievable about this news nothing if u ask me most people in the world love metallica even snoop dogg and avril lavigne and we all know she is pop it would be more unbelievable if he said yeah man at home i listen to devildriver or slayer or deicide but come on metallica is fucking normal pretty much everyone loves metallica

hate to say this... but i used to be a HUGE westlife fan and was very obsessed, and its all true. theres a picture of him somewhere from when he was younger with long hair, wearing a metallica tshirt and 'rocking' away - lolz

Metallica are amazin, i really dont see the big deal about someone from a pop background liking them.

And to all the people who said he probably listens to later releases you're probably right but i find the mental picture of someone like him rockin' out to for whom the bell tolls pretty funny.

I love Metallica. One of my favourite bands.

Maybe Kians parents got him into Metallica. You tend to listen to the music you were brought up with.

I can see into the future...

Lots of westlife-fans are going to listen to metallica "just to hear what it is".

They will fall in love with one of the worst sellout-songs, like st.anger and listen to it all day long. Then they will buy band-merchandise and make the dollar-crazy "selloutallica" even richer.

how can a band that has been going on for ages and sell out pretty much every gig they go 2, be shit?
and i hate it when people say that metallica were better than megadeth but arnt anymore - ther the same band - but with a difo bassist - and master of puppets is still metallica, as is st. anger - but people say that metallica used to be good, they never made a bad album when ya think about it - MOP RTL TBA KEA are all good heavy metal albums - and ther rest are still good - just not 100% heavy metal
metallica have paved the way for most bands nowadays - ther like the gods of rock music

Metallica were once a dynamic drive force in metal during the 80's and 90's which inspired many bands from lots of genres and will continue to for years to come, such as sabbith and Zeppelin have. However Metallica's Age, Fortune, Lazyness and egos have distroyed the past few albums, this can easily been seen going back to the 91 black album, a good album over all however lack passion and agression which was a metallica trademark. these day i as metallica fan think they now suck balls and hold no hope of a return to these ageing rockstars. it seems to be a pathetic attempt to hold onto once was and metal isen't for the old, this could seriously turn into a rolling stones wheelchair tour.
