New Green Day music?

While the world is waiting with baited breath for the follow-up to their squillion-selling American Idiot album, it seems Green Day have been busy in the studio working on a new side-project.

Internet gossip columnist extraordinaire, Perez Hilton, is reporting that Billie Jo and co have formed a '60s-inspired band called Foxboro Hot Tubs.

"The tunes are very '60s-inspired and hella cool," says Hilton. "And the lead singer sounds like it's definitely Billie Joe!”

Listen to the songs below. Judge for yourself. Click here to visit the band's website.

if its not Billie Joe, it sounds
ALOT like him, it might be another The Network type thing... and i think the backing vocals sound much like Mike also, the drumming style sounds oddly familiar..

ive just listened to all the songs and i find them all pretty awesome! i hope this becomes bigger!!

Posted by fuzzums | December 10, 2007 3:55 PM | Reply to this

WHY? WHYYYY???!?!!

Posted by junta | December 10, 2007 3:58 PM | Reply to this

Posted by gaby | December 10, 2007 4:47 PM | Reply to this

I love it, its rockin its awesome, loads of fun to listen too and they did say they had over 45songs on the go, exploring lots of avenues keeps u fresh and open minded, plus it was given free when does that ever happen anymore?

Posted by Rosie May | December 10, 2007 5:23 PM | Reply to this

y do people presume this is gonna delay the new greenday album i reckon chances are this is probably tracks where they probably went off track for a week when they were working on the album but to be blunt i wouldnt mind if they released this kind of stuff as the new album

Posted by benji | December 10, 2007 5:39 PM | Reply to this

Hm... i like it I suppose. It's a bit different. I love Green Day and all, but this just isn't like them, I always associate Green Day with certain riffs and styles. I just bought 'International Superhits' and loved it, so don't let us down Billie. :)

Its sounds like billie joe but i dont think it is

Posted by emma | December 10, 2007 6:22 PM | Reply to this

nnnahh i personally don't think it's Green Day. Sure, the voice sounds a little like Billie Joe, but I don't think it's that similar, and the backing vocals sound absolutely NOTHING like Mike Dirnt!!

Posted by Sian | December 10, 2007 6:32 PM | Reply to this

How do I listen to the music? It says: "Listen to the songs below. Judge for yourself." But the songs aren't below... Can someone tell me because I'm one of those people that can't do something until they're told exactly how.

i dont give a flying fuck,
i think it sounds like green day - but is it isnt then who cares? i like it.
and its gonna delay the album?
im just as desperate to hear it as everyone else, but i doubt that'll it will hold up the album but more than like a week.
you've waited this long - you can wait longer!
<33 the songs tho. =]

Posted by ElectricRomantic | December 10, 2007 9:46 PM | Reply to this

The first one sounds like Billie Joe but I'm not sure about the others.
Tey are more Arctic Monkeys than Green Day, in my humble opinion.

Posted by freak | December 11, 2007 8:12 PM | Reply to this

I would like to hear a new album.

I think it would be quite interesting with a sixties thingy in it. Let's just hope they don't cock it up!

Why do so many people put 'greenday' instead of Green Day and then 'Billy Joe' instead of Billie Joe?

How the fuck are you a fan if you don't get those right! Jees!
Okay,moan over.

And I think Foxboro Hot Tubs is Green Day. I'd know that voice anywhere and although it's a different style,it still sounds familiar.

Sounds cool though...

Posted by Forest | December 17, 2007 9:35 PM | Reply to this

The first thing that greenday has made that is listenable since insomniac

Posted by Tyler | December 19, 2007 1:08 AM | Reply to this

I love GD. The Network. Foxboro Hot Tubs the same

Judging from this thread, some people will never be satisfied. Oh well. Green Day can't please everyone.

Go Green Day! I support you what ever you seek to do. :)

Let them take their time Dammit... I'd rather wait.. even if it does drive me insane! and as for the 60's music its just another thing to try out. stop judging so quickly.

GREENDAY ROX! THEY ARE AWSOMELY AWSOME!!! THEY SHOULD BE NO. 1 !!!!! LUV U GREEN DAY!!!!!!

Posted by sasha | December 20, 2007 8:03 PM | Reply to this

I think it is Green Day.

I have listened to nearly every album they've made. It does sound like Billie Joe, but no one can be certain.

So we'll just have to see what evidence comes to light won't we?

Posted by Laura | December 21, 2007 1:19 PM | Reply to this

defo green day...ppl saying it isnt them havent heard of computers changing the sound of their voices??? def is and the backing vocals DO sound alot lyk mike.
i've only listened 2 them 4 bout 5-6 years but i can tell when bands are the same ppl and GD n FBHT are def the same.

tahts all

maru

Posted by marina | December 21, 2007 4:33 PM | Reply to this

i think they sound alot like them- if it was JUST the drums, or JUST the vocals, or JUST the back-up vocals, then i wouldn't be so sure, but all 3? too similar to be a coincidence. and the style's similar, too- ruby room sounds alot like hitchin' a ride, and red tide's the longlost brother of the instrumental 'last ride in'. but whether it's them or not, it's fucking ay. :)

Posted by jen | December 21, 2007 11:25 PM | Reply to this

i hope they still come out with there new album if they dont my life is done. i love them, i hope this is just some project.

They're musicians, dude, not our personal karaoke machines. They've always made way more music than the album-every-few-years we get from the record company. They're amazing pop artists and I love hearing/seeing anything /everything they create from punk rock operas to other genres (like Network's eurotrash electronica) and other forms, like videos and religions. Long live the Church of Lushology. Long live Green Day. Let's thank the boys for a free five-cut peek at the latest from their insane, profane, exuberant, suicidal, self deprecating, hilarious points of view.

All you people complaining about this need to open your eyes and ears. These guys have always been open to trying different things and if those different things don't suit your tastes you don't have to listen to them. I for one enjoy seeing bands branch out and try something new, especially under a new banner - this ensures that they can still satisfy the purists whilst exploring new things too.

Kudos Billie Joe, Mike and Tre.

Posted by Leirith | March 19, 2008 11:12 PM | Reply to this

This is not Green Day's new album, they did not change their name. It's just another side project like The Network and Pinhead Gunpowder.

Green Day's new album will be out sometime this year. We just have to continue to wait.

Posted by Emily | April 15, 2008 7:30 AM | Reply to this

Well I can't say the FHT's music is to my taste.... it's bloody catchy though!!

The Network website said "cumming soon" recently (before it died lol) so maybe they're gonna have some fun with them, too??

Despite what others says, AI was a brilliant album in my opinion. So were most of the others, perhaps with the exception of Minority. Whatever Green Day come up with next, chances are I'll like it.

Oh one other thing... maybe they're getting the pop outta their systems with other bands, and keeping Green Day for punk? Well, pop-punk. Doesn't sound promising that Billie Joe is writing songs on the Piano though.
