Iron Maiden have announced that Orange County metallers Avenged Sevenfold will be main support at their debut UK stadium show at London's Twickenham Rugby Stadium on July 5.
"I've seen Maiden play countless times and am continually blown away, not just by their live show, but also by the great records they continue to make," said frontman M. Shadows. "We have learned much from Iron Maiden and are honoured to be sharing the stage with some of the greatest icons in rock music."
"It's a tremendous time for metal fans right now with some fantastic young bands making a real mark for themselves," said Maiden manager Rod Smallwood. "Maiden are delighted to be bringing their fans one of the very best, Avenged Sevenfold, who will be joining them as special guests on a number of their European Summer shows. It all adds up to an even more memorable night out for the fans! We will now be considering who will play in the slot before Avenged at Twickenham."
Despite selling-out arenas and stadiums the world over and headlining major UK festivals like Reading and Donington many times, as yet, Maiden have never played a stadium headline show in the UK.
"It could be a bit of an understatement to say how excited we all are to be playing this show next summer," said bassist Steve Harris. "We've got hell of a tour planned visiting old and new fans all over the world but as always it's great to get home and play here in London especially at such a prestigious stadium as Twickenham. It's going to a fantastic occasion."
