Alien Ant Farm reform!

Nu-metal quartet Alien Ant Farm, who shot to fame in 2001 with their cover of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal, have reunited.

"We recently set our differences aside," drummer Mike Cosgrove told US radio program Ryan's Rock Show. "We got some offers, and we are going to play some shows as our original unit over the summer.

"It's exciting," he added.

Well, for four men at least...

lol i bet they play download.

better than any of the bands announced so far as well lololol, excluding disturbed.

talking of that kerrang, why dont you feature proper rock bands like disturbed more instead of week in week out features on floppy fringed cunts, my chemical bastard romance, matt fucking tuck and jared fucking leto. like that prick needs his ego stroking anymore!

Sweet! Anthology was a quality album, so it's cool to hear they're back together. And andymark, not everyone likes the same music as you mate. Calm down and accept that K! covers all kinds of rock. It's not made personally for you.

AAf were legendary. OK, so they may have been a bit of a guilty pleasure, but you cant deny that they released a few quality albums.
If they played Download, I would actually have several heart attacks. It would be ace

Because Disturbed have been regularly ridiculed, mocked and put down in this magazine?!
And they're shit anyway.
BTW, where have you seen MCR in this week's issue? Hmm? Go away and listen to your one-shit wonder.

Hey, maybe you could put less effort into maing up crap put-down names for good bands and more effort into realising no1 cares.

"for four men at least"... you sly cunt, shouldn't really have expected more from a magazine that is a shitrag of a tabloid, though.

Sorry but look at some of the crap you're forced to push these days... Paramore? Panic at the Disco? 30 Seconds to Mars? Aiden? I'm sure it will seem cool and funny to turn on these bands soon enough. Admittedly, alien ant farm were not musically groundbreaking, but they were MILES ahead of the aforementioned bands in terms of credibility, Michael Jackson cover aside. Songs like Attitude and Movies are classics, and their underrated 'Truant' album is a hugely consistent piece of work. James Hetfield said it was one of the best albums he had heard that year, and one of the most established rock radio DJs in the UK rates the guys highly. So why take the cheap and easy option of bashing them as a novelty band?

I've been involved in the "industry" for a while and have hung out with a lot of bands on a social level, and the boys in AAF are some of the funniest, nicest, hardest working guys who have always had a lot of time for their fans and been very gracious and respectful towards the press and those who helped them out. Don't forget some of the shit they went through in terms of the bus crash and unsupportive labels as they recovered. They don't and didn't deserve the way they were treated by Kerrang and its writers on a little ego trip. Think back to when they brought you guys out to the US, did they really deserve the way you slated them?

I really hope it works out for the guys. To be honest, I'm doubtful and think they've had their day and was hoping Dryden's project with Nick Hexum (311) would get him some solo recognition, but it has yet to see the light of day. That said, I hope they get a fair crack at a comeback rather than being written off as a fad band. Meanwhile, Kerrang writer, grow some balls, you're not funny or cool. If you don't like the band, the best thing to do is not cover them, there are a thousand great emo stories out there like the recent Madina Lake assaut on Coheed's road crew and Jared Leto punching a fan at 30STM's Hammersmith show. Gotta protect those franchises though eh, and sell some magazines.

If they're good enough for Mr Myagi then they're good enough for me :)

Posted by Markoos | February 17, 2008 8:25 PM | Reply to this

Of course. They HAVE to appeal to their demograph. That's all it is.

AAF are good

i dno why

Posted by kaonahiismystalker | February 23, 2008 6:24 PM | Reply to this

Too fucking right.

They praise Aiden and all these piles of crap out these days...then when a truly decent band reform...they just decide to poke a joke?

Why?!

ANTHOLOGY IS AN INCREDIBLE ALBUM!

Gah. Best of luck to the lads in AAF and let's hope they come here soon!

I agree with Andymark, all those cunts in their emo hair cuts and faggy tight jeans can get lost, Disturbed have a lot to teach bands like that. I was really put off by Download, but now that COB have confirmed i might reconsider:P

i loved alien ant farm, and i was so upset when terry and ty left, but i was completely overjoyed when i heard they'd reformed!

so many people take them as a joke band and a novelty, with their only basis being a couple of cheesy videos. well, three cheesy videos. and up in the attic/3rd draft was a bit of a slump...

but seriously, i think that they were one of the most creative rock bands of the last 10 (and a bit) years--songs like pink tea and attitude were well above most other bands of the time in terms of originality and musicianship, but they are still so underappreciated and derided.

i would be so pleased if they play at reading, it would give me a reason to go (if i could afford it) and believe me, there are a lot more than four people who are excited about their return.
for those of you who aren't...well i'll leave you to your aiden and fall out boy then :P
