Get ready for Download 2008!

This year's Kerrang!-sponsored Download festival will take place the weekend of June 13 to June 15 and will be headlined by Welsh rockers Lostprophets, Orange County punkers The Offspring and one other legendary rock band TBC!

Other bands confirmed for this year's festival include metal gods Judas Priest and Finnish love metallers HIM.

Stay tuned to Kerrang! dot com tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday) at 4PM GMT when we will be announcing the fnal headliner and at 7:30PM for another two bands who will be playing Britain’s biggest and best rock festival.

Tickets for Download 2008 will go on sale on February 8 at 9AM. Prices are as follows: a full weekend ticket: £130, standard camping: £20, camper van: £40, family zone camping: £20, lockers: £11, parking £10 in advance or £15 on the day. There will be a variety of ticket packages available to buy, including the RIP packages (a VIP package) from £315. For Club or VIP Experience packages, please call 020 7009 3484 to discuss your requirements.

I personally love all of those bands (bar HIM), but I think alot of XCORE MEGALOLZ!!!!! metalheads aren't gonna be happy about this. Lostprophets will no doubt get the same reception My Chemical Romance had last year. Can't wait to see them though, they're one of my favorite live bands! :-D

This years festival is going to be a fag fest! all the bands besides judas priest are all gay ass bands! you couldnt of picked a worst line up! id rather sit through my chem again then this shit! you have got loads of bands far better then this bollox released or releasing albums before the event! download sucks ass this year and you need a really awesome thrid headliner or some really really awesome bands added to line up before i part with my cash! thank fuck i never bought my tickets last year or id want a refund!

if it weren't for Judas Priest being announced, I would have said "fuck download, it's turning into Emofest.. I'm paying less money and watching better bands and going to Hellfest.."
but Priest makes me optomistic that there may, in fact, be some decent bands there this year.

i dunno, a month ago, ivowed never to listen or speak of lostprophets ever again. i relised that their music meant NOTHING to me anymore. i got into better things like Thursday and Silverstein and Dillinger and had this all ahppned at download lassst year,,, it would have been great, mcr AND lp's

Download has been a metal festival for yearssssssss and there is very very very few metal acts that stand out these days and iron maiden can headline only so many fucking times.
So get over it, mainland europe has some stupidly brilliant metal festivals for a fraction of the price and your all still moaning about how this years not hard enough =/
I know change is hard and i know a few bands out there are getting by on make up and bar chords but seriously, lostprophets arent that bad, they suprised me live like ffaf did when supporting maiden.
jeeeees no wonder why kids still think bullet for my valentine and a7x is cool, half of you are still stuck in hair metal =/

If it wasn`t for some of the bands from before 1989 you wouldn`t have half of the bands that are around today. I`d like to see if some of todays bands are still around in nearly 20 years time.

God, a load of shitty bands this year except lostprophets and him is alright. I know mcr got bottled last year but couldn'y believe why, f'in love them! Best Download Festival would have My Chemical Romance, Avenged Sevenfold, Greenday, Mindless Self Indulgence, Bring me the horizon, Bullet for my valentine and some other band. Shit this year.

This line up is poor. I was hoping for something better as Leeds festival r rumourd 2 have Metallica and rage agaist machines.

Guys who are complaining about the lack of metal. Get a fucking grip. Download festival is a ROCK festival. Meaning the festival caters for ROCK fans, and not just metal fans. Lets put aside our differences and have a good time. Metal bands will feature heavily on the final bill, but I welcome the greatly talented bands of The Offspring and Lostprophets. They deserve their headlining slots.

I cant believe this, last years first announcement was dodgy enough, but this is easily the worst in years.

I was willing to go along last year purely because the Mighty Maiden were headlining.

If the organisers of this years Download Festival think that they will go town in "Donnington Folklore" with very avearge headliners such as Lost Prophets and Offspring they are sadly mistaken.

Priest deserve respect but if you ask all mature, hardcore rock/metal fans to give you their top 10, two of the above whom i have already mentioned wouldnt get a look in. In fact, they wouldnt make the top 30!

If you compare these headliners to previous years with the likes of GNR, Maiden, Metallica etc, this is very poor indeed.

Even if the expected 3rd headliner is KISS, I still dont think it will be good enough to save the abuse.

I wouldnt personally waste the money and i know that Download would struggle to pull the same crowd as last year if this is the best of whats to come??

Other festivals in Europe are offering a much stronger headlining contingent!

From what i can see round the web on various chat sites, boards etc, people will be offloading tickets in droves if it doesnt improve.

Come on Live Nation, pull the finger out!!

Give us a Metallica, Maiden, GNR, Slayer or another few bands who really can be called legends!

This is geared towards the 'Emo' generation and so far relates in no way to the mighty festivals and great bands that graced the stages of Donnigton!!

So disappointed, and as it use to say on your school report, should do better!

This is crap! ffs, last years line up was immense, especially on the last day and that was insane i mean lamb of god, Mastodon, Stone Sour, IRON MAIDEN, Killswitch engage and even bloody evanescence were good.
Tbh i'm just pissed off that Rage Against the Machine aren't there, they are fucking insane and there could've been so many good bands there like Children of Bodom, Arch enemy, Down, Every time I die, dillinger escape plan, Alter Bridge, Gallows, The ghost of a thousand the list goes on and fucking on.
Lost prophets last album sucked so much i lost all faith in them, Offspring aren't headline material and the fact that t hey get priority to Judas Fucking Priest is shite.
Get your act together and pull some good bands out of the fucking hat you pathetic wankers or risk losing out on ticket sales this year

I think Lost Prophets are good but i'd be pissed off if i were a metalhead, expecting metal at a metal festival. What's the deal? Something wrong with Machine Head? all i can say is after the past 2 festivals and how good they were im just very disapointed with the list so far... a headliner band just doesnt feel right if they are getting booed off the stage... and if Lostprophets have the sunday night then they have to try to what Iron Maiden did so well and close the festival in style... they just can't

Download is about rock not just metal. It has always catered for different genres...How about iggy pop and the distillers main stage 04. Yes offspring are punk and a damn fine punk band who well deserve their headline spot. Only 4 bands have been announced so far so get a grip. Its about the festival as a whole and its the best rock festival the UK has to offer!!!!

O DEAR @ THE HEADLINERS...i like LP and the Offspring but o dear they r nt headliners annnd LP will be killed coz its a metal/hard rock festival....look at the history for those going everyone likes different tastes...LP belong at reading nuff sed...

the one good festival we had and its just gone and fucked right up, reading mostly mainstream shite and bloodstock only gets medium bands that you could see in local venues, this countrys music scene has gone right down the shitter

tbf the offspring arernt download material...lostprophets which i do like..shud play download cos their first 2 albums were really good
its the new 1 thats shit..but they arent headliner material..and havent HIM played before?
i will say they are good live and i spose will be good for a chillout.. but some of the hardcore metal heads dont like them which is fare enough

WHAT fucks me of the most is that, it was fine when there "emo" bands were playin in the tents. but now their headlining its going to put off many of the older generation, im only 21 but i realise coz iv seen that many older people go to download some a lot who were there when it was monsters of rock, im worried its going to put them old skools off, and htere part of the fun! he thing is, the majority of these "emo"'s arent even gonna be into this music in a few years wen they grow up, and turn to a new fashion, and htey dont even know hte fucking meaning of emo anyway! O well im still going coz just being at download is immense. but for how long .....!

Offspring are legendary, they arent metal, but since when has kerrang/download ever been just about metal?! I wouldn't complain if Blink 182 were there, they arent metal but they still awesome. Its worth it just for the experience, and since only 4 other bands are announced at this time, that leaves the other slots open for some potentially massive sets. Fall Out Boy aren't great as headliners, but i wouldn't mind seeing them, i saw Lostprophets and they were crap (in Hull) but thats just my opinion. As for the metal bit, there will be some fucking awesome bands playing im sure....machine head would be quality, as would slayer, as an outside shot.....maybe Skindred (not to headline, but just to play somewhere)

other than that, the Line up looks ok to me so far

Every year it's the same - you moan about how crap it all is, but I never hear anyone saying when they're there that they can't find something to watch.

Yeah, last year two of the headliners didn't interest me, so I opened my mind and Friday saw Hayseed Dixie (best band of the weekend), Saturday the Crue - awesome.

The year before, didn't fancy Tool, but was blown away by Ginger.

It is not and has never been a Metal Festival. Open your ears and your minds, you might just find there's something even more amazing.

And if you can't do that, here's a radical solution - DON'T GO!!!

Last year was my first year at download and although i wasn't interested in all the bands i had a surreal time and thought it was absolute amasing. Its not just about going to see your favorite band its about the experience and seeing bands that you wouldn't normally go see.
Its only 4 bands that have been announced theres another 90 odd to be confirmed, please dont try and tell me you went to download last year and only saw 4 bands...they'l be something for everyone... Non so far has particulaly tickled my fancy but theres still time!!!

I believe that the Offspring are worthy headliners, because they're good and they've been around for a while. Lostprophets is a bit questionable, but hey, this is what people are into, and surely Download are just trying to cater to the majority... Just a thought. It looks like clear weekend in june this year,i can't see myself parting with £130 to see 1 headline band i might pay £20 to see at rock city(lost prophets).
Lets be fair The offspring havn't done a decent album for years and if it is kiss for the third band then all it will be is a big mtv doco.
Sorry download but you are really losing your way with the line up.
Last years was fairly weak on headliners apart from maiden.
I am truly dissapointed when with tickets food and accomodation i am looking at spending £500 to £700 for me and my girlfriend i don't think i justify it.
Rock am ring or reading then.

Once again the fans of metal get let down,its as if our money is not good enough. Here in Britain we are starved of the type of festivals you can get in Europe, I have been going to Donnington since 1995 and I prob wont go to this one unless they get some more metal bands on the line up.
Emo,indie and pop punk have lots of festivals to perform in such as Reading,Leeds,T in the park,Glatonbury etc yet we only have Bloodstock and Download but now its changing.
Im in mourning,please bring back the proud tradition of Donnington and add some more metal bands,otherwise I think a lot of us will find ourselves on a ferry off to Europe!
