Nirvana fraud

According to The Sun newspaper, late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain's estate has been defrauded out of a staggering £36 million since 2003.

Cobain's widow, Courtney Love, said the majority of the cash was taken out of a trust fund set up for the couple's daughter Frances Bean. She also claims the fraudsters even managed to use her late husband's cash to buy a $3.2 million (approximately £1.6 million) mansion in New Jersey.

"I did a check on my deceased husband's social security number and he has a house in New Brunswick, New Jersey," Love told the newspaper. "He bought it last year. I would like to know how! He should probably get his ass back home if that is the case."

Police are now investigating the case.

Nirvana are easily the most overrated band in music. I mean it really fucking pisses me off when you see 14 year olds in todays world with nirvana hoodies on. like they can fucking identify with a band when they probably hadnt even been concieved when the weak cunt called kurt blew his own brains out.

Nirvana are a staple in music culture because fo their music, NOT because of Kurt Cobains suicide. Yes, his suicide did make big news, but only because the band was so loved in the first place.

Wow, that is probably the most amount of utter crap i heard in a long time.
The fact that you said Nirvana were one hit wonders shows you complete ignorance and devalidates your entire opinion. Nirvana were about music, not pop charts! Nirvana were entirely against commercial success, and went out there way to not make commercially accessable music after Nevermind, (Cobain hated 'Teen Spirit' and that whole album)as did many other Grunge bands, such as Pearl Jam.
Despite this, such was there impact that without Nirvana there would be no alternative rock/ indie/ metal etc in pop culture today.
That is not opinion, that is FACT!
Before you complain and say everyone is entitled to their own opinion remember. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated and well supported in logic, argument and FACT than others.

Hi. I'm 14. I have been listening to Nirvana for the past 2 or 3 years now. I was 1 when Kurt Cobain killed himself. True, I wasn't around when Grunge ws big, and I didn't even know who Nirvana were until I was about 11. So fucking what? Fuck you. Nirvana had a big effect on my life, I turned to them when my parents were divorcing, because like all them kids back in the ninties, I realted with their music. Nirvana weren't "one hit wonders." Yeah, so they only ever released a few albums? It's great that what they did make in their time was good so thair not selling themselves out now. I'm glad Kurt Cobain commited suicide and I understand why he did it. I'm not your usual "Kurt Cobain is so hot/omg Smells Like Teen spirit is so cool" kind of girl. I respect Nirvana because they had the ability to change peoples lives.

well, i love Nirvana, even tho i'm 15, and wasn't alive much when he was alive. But i don't care. their music is still played and is still amazing and they're still my favourite band. Who cares if i wasnt alive? I can still watch nirvana unplugged and their concerts on tape, etc. I think it's horrible someone is been frauding (great word). Yeah, kinda off subject, i don't think Kurt killed himself for various reasons. justiceforkurt.com or the 2 books by max wallace and Ian Halperlin explain why. on justice for kurt go on investigatiions, then reasons... I can't believe such a narrow minded point of view!! I wasn't alive when Vivaldi was around but his music is still inspiring and great to listen to along with Elvis,The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, the list is endless. So Andy mark, should we only be listening to bands in the here and now? Those bands wouldn't even be here if they weren't listening to old stuff. Can we really believe what Courtney Love says anyway? what difference does it make?

nirvana arent just famous because of kurt cobains suicide or murder, its because of their music and influential frontman. they were original, talented, inspirtational and amazing. kurt's death was sad, and it did make the papers big time, maybe making nirvana more famous. but nirvana made him.

can you people not respect peoples opinions?
i love nirvana, and if you dont, then fairenough, but dont judge other people because kurt cobain is their idol, or because they can appriciate the musical genious that is nirvana

Tbh, I'm not a big Nirvana fan, so naturally I don't really care how Kurt Cobain died. However, I don't think people should be argueing over it, leave that to the feds, they might not be doing a great job, but it is STILL their job. If someone thinks that Nirvana were shit, you're not going to change that by practically crying about the fact that, your Nirvana's biggest fan and how you see K.C. in your dreams. Not to say that people shouldn't be careful of what they say to fans of Nirvana, because people do need to respect that people have different taste in music. For a start, quit claiming that Nirvana are real music and bands like MCR are not. Because I am a huge, huge Nirvana fan and have been for nearly a decade. They got me into rock music in the first place.

And I also happen to be a huge MCR fan. And a huge FOB fan. And 30STM. Oh, and the Backstreet Boys as well, but I don't see what they have to to do with this news article as well.

And you know what? I bet any money that if a band like Nirvana were to break now, they would be classed as emo because Kurt Cobain wore his hair long and in his face, was prone to a bit of eyeliner now and then and wrote very emotional lyrics because let's face it, that's what this whole "emo" stereotype is based on, isn't it?

I know that Nirvana aren't emo, but neither are MCR. Before you all start throwing this word around - which by the way, has nothing to do with the story in the first place - look up what it really means.

On the actual news story, if Courtney wasn't so off her face she would have realised that all that money was missing, the idiot. And what does she care about her daughter losing out on money, when she's the one who's snorting, smoking or injecting it anyway? She sold off 25% of the Nirvana catalogue which she never should have had in the first place, so she clearly has no qualms about people using her dead husband. God knows she has.
