Elliot Minor added to Download bill!

Yorkshire rockers Elliot Minor have been added to the bill of this year's Kerrang!-sponsored Download festival.

In related news, the band will be signing copies of their debut self-titled album at Brighton's Zavvi store (Unit MSU5, Churchill Square Shopping Centre, Brighton, BN1 2TB).

The signing will take place at 5PM on Monday April 14.

Please note: Time will be quite limited and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

The Kerrang!-sponsored Download festival will be headlined by: Kiss, The Offspring and Lostprophets.

The full list of other bands on the bill so far is as follows:

36 Crazy Fists, A Day To Remember, Alesana, Alter Bridge, Apocalyptica, Biffy Clyro, Bleeding Through, Bullet For My Valentine, Cavalera Conspiracy, Children Of Bodom, Chris Cornell, Coheed & Cambria, Disturbed, Elliot Minor, Fightstar, HIM, In Flames, Incubus, Jimmy Eat World, Job For A Cowboy, Jonathan Davis, Judas Priest, Kid Rock, Korn, Madina Lake, Motorhead, Pendulum, Rise Against, Seether, Simple Plan, The Black Dahlia Murder, The Devil Wears Prada, The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Subways, Throwdown and Within Temptation.

The Download festival takes place the weekend of June 13 to June 15. Tickets are on sale now. Prices are as follows: a full weekend ticket: £130, standard camping: £20, camper van: £40, family zone camping: £20, lockers: £11, parking £10 in advance or £15 on the day. There will be a variety of ticket packages available to buy, including the RIP packages (a VIP package) from £315. For Club or VIP Experience packages, please call 020 7009 3484 to discuss your requirements.

elliot minor are fucking dreadful, i was in the car the other day and their latest song came on kerrang radio as it goes, and it made me realise for the first time that i was embarrassed to be listening to kerrang radio because of them sinking to the low of playing that utter bollocks.


the whole kerrang "brand" from the mag,to the tv channle to the radio station should be ashamed of themselves for covering this bollocks yet they shun many a good band or repeatedly take the piss out of other bands such as like say papa roach and disturbed. 2 great bands that get mocked in kerrang yet shit like this is covered. say what you will about the bands i mentioned but at least they are a lot more real and fucking ROCK than elliot fucking minor.

Elliot Minor. Hmmn...now this a band which many people either hate or love. I am still neutral about them.

Well, well, well. Elliot Minor at Download. Come on Kerrang!!!! I know it isn't your fault that Elliot (SHIT) Minor are playing Download (screw the person who decided that!), but telling all your readers is going to ruin Download's reputation! Who the hell is going to want to go now?! I myself am not going, but I've got friends who have spent however much that ridiculous amount of money is for a ticket and plan to go. I feel terribly sorry for anyone going to Download if you are going specifically for Elliot Minor, and I do hope that they get bottled. Hard. They're not rock, they toured with Mcfly, and they're an insult to rock.

Theres plenty of bands people like so whats the big fuss?

I saw the guys last night in the astoria. Even if you dont like the music the members of the band are really nice. (Ed Minton has stolen my fingerless glove but oh well, before you know it, we could be seeing my glove in europe!!)

I understand you have your own opinions but some of us would like it if you would kindly take it upon yourself and KEEP THOSE OPINIONS TO YOURSELVES!

Okaayyy. They OBVIOUSLY arent metal. Thats for sure. But, hey, a lot of people like them. Thats why they are on Kerrang! TV all the time. So respect that they have made a name for themselves and that they are even considered for Download.
In my opinion they are okay. Need to hear an album before I can make a proper judgement. But I would probably go to a show. Im not exactly a fan, and I know they supported McFly, but a lot of people like them so I guess thats all that really matters.

Hey I don't really like Elliot Minor's music and several bands that have been announced. But This is still the early days so It might get better because they had a huge line-up last year so they would want to keep the numbers so hopefully it will get better. Least Elliot aren't Headlining that would just be a big mistake but I'm looking forward to Kiss and Lostprophets. But I'm really Looking forward to Cavalera Conspiracy. That be worth seeing!

I took my brother (he's 14) to see them last week, I'll be honest they really impressed me. They're nowhere near as good as Iron Maiden or Bullet but they're not bad.

I know a lot of people aren't happy and are going on about Reading but remember reading only has metal bands on for 1 day!!!!

What Reading has done is have a wide range of bands to attract a more diverse crowd, I believe Download is doing that to avoid loosing numbers and to maybe attract more who wouldn't normally go.

Thank god Reading has Slipknot and Metalica???? That's TWO Bands!!! what about The Killers? Babyshambles? Dizzee Rascal? Bloc Party? Editors? They're not metal, but that doesn't matter cause at least there's 2 good bands at that 3 DAY festival.

And everyone seems too quick to forget that Elliot Minor played last years download as well, so why everyone's suddenly throwing their toys out the pram cause the one band they want hasn't been announced (yet)

Also there's more than one stage so if you don't like one band then chances are another stage will have one you do.

It may not be who we want to see but why should it be who you want to see get booked instead. The only way people stand any chance of changing it is by getting their voice heard. If people don't complain this year next year Elliot Minor will be back with McFly and Take That. No one was insulting you so I don't see why you feel it is necessary to say "fuck you all".

Anyway I am glad that I can't go to download otherwise I would of bought tickets early and been insanely disappointed.

fair enough u have a bit of a point, but with download bringing in all these new bands, they are infact loosing more punters, making the festival worse.
Leeds and reading has always had an awesome variety of bands. which i think makes it an even better festival. Sure they only have one day of metal, but so what? if anything, its so much better. Just look at the line up for leeds, its incredible. Now compare it with download, which quite frankly is laughable.
Download may be trying to add different acts, but they are choosing the wrong ones, making it unpopular.
btw, elliot minor still suck, they are terrible. the only reaosn that kerrang are giving them exposure is because they have to.
Minor suck!
and shame on you for going to see them.

The simple fact is people like different types of music and people are disapointed that a predominantly metal festival has been booked with lots of bands which aren't metal.

I am all for people voicing their opinions about things and it is fair enough that you are happy a band you like are going to the festival but don't just come on and insult people for the fun of it, it is seriously immature.

Unfortunetly (or fortunetly) i won't be there to see it cos i'm off to Graspop instead, where they have a proper line-up and not the utter abortion which this festival has turned into.

Congratulations Live Nation and Kerrang! together you have taken a rock and metal institution and rammed a stake through its heart. I only hope it can ressurect next year, in a form more fitting of its heritage.

But remember Elliot Minor are not new to Download, they were on the Dimebag Darrell Stage last year...............if they're Main stage this year then I can see your point but I can't see that happening (I hope it doesn't anyway)

Download has always included a selection of various versions of rock, I mean over the last few years there have been bands like:
Reel Big Fish
Kids in Glass Houses
Paramore
Enter Shikari (someone's complained about them this year I think)
Fightstar
Bowling For Soup
The All-American Reject
Feeder
Garbage
Electric Six
Wildboyz
NOFX
There's more but my point is all these bands are not metal yet for some reason it's THIS YEAR that is ruined? :S

Last year there was 98 bands, this year only 38 have been announced so please be patient.

1) I wasn't gonna let my bro go to one of his first gigs in the middle of Glasgow himself.

2) I'm on a mission to see as many different bands as possible so I thought why not. (currently on 31, 11 since Feb) so I'm not bothered what style the band is, I'll judge them on their performance and Eliiot Minor weren't bad, a lot heavier live than their records and tried to get the crowd involed at every chance (which I like)

I can understand why some people don't like them but others do and that's why They're playing Download again.

Well seeing as though neither are important enough (yet) for Kerrang to comment on, Ace Frehley and Ash have both been confirmed for this year's Download Festival.

Ace Frehley - great, but I'd happily let Leeds/Reading have Ash in exchange for Avenged Sevenfold or Dropkick Murphys. Don't like them at all.

Ok this might seem a bit biast as i'm an Elliot Minor fan but what everyone needs to remember is Kerrang! try to cater for everyone. If it was just a metal festival they wouldn't sell half as many tickets...its simple if you don't like the band just don't watch them

also i know alot of people labelled them because they toured with McFly, but if you where an up and coming band would you really give up the chance to play arena's all over teh U.K? I mean despite the music mcfly play, you've got to remember that they are good at what they do and Elliot Minor aknowledged that.
yes they where worried that people would react like THIS to that tour, but they took the chance all they are trying to do is get their own fanbase

just leave them alone, and just respect them for being musicians, look past the musical labels

Im a very angry EM fan...They have as much right to be there as any other band!

Ive met the guys on many occasions are they are the nicest guys in the world and dont deserve to be hounded like this...

Its a festival....if you dont like the band thats a stage go watch one of the others and make room for the people who want to watch them(and that applies for ANY band not just em)
They have alot more talanted and varity in there songs that the sceaming speed metal that some folk listen to.

We are all supposed to be indivduals who are supposed to be open mined about different types of music....

Okay, I hate Elliot Minor. I do not think there is a place for them in Kerrang, and deffo not at Download. But, I'm not gonna say they are a bad band, they are just not my taste, therefore my view would be biased.

BUT: Download is a metal fest. Elliot Minor do not deserve to be there. Just as MCR didn't. I like MCR. But they shouldn't have been there, as that isn't their genre.

About Kerrang being a sellout: Okay, the mag is featuring softer bands, but its all about trends in the mainstream. When crap like hip hop and r'n'b gets popular again, then we wont have all the tag ons just buying kerrang becaus eit says 'Elliot Minor' or 'MCR' on the front. But, as rock/metal/alt fans we shouldnt all turn against our bands because they are gaining popularity.

PS. I do get what you're saying about Kerrang radio though. The other day, they played COLDPLAY and SCOUTING FORM GIRLS! WTF????

I know a LOT of fans who are over 20 and who are fans of the guys, i even know people in their 40's who like them, so fucking grow up.
If you dont like them, don't watch them, its that simple. Just because they toured with McFly no need to judge them when you havn't even heard them live. I hate mcfly, i dont go slating them all the time, and i dont go slating elliot minor either.

At the end of the day, i can see where both sides are coming from

Download IS traditionally a metal fest and yeah, elliot minor dont really fit the mould. Download line up if you are after metal isnt the best...

But at the same time, simple plan don't fit the mould either and yet elliot minor r gettin all the shit? why not insult simple plan?

agree with what is said above my megan, download this year is open to alot more people, thus increasing ticket sales and more money for them. but at the same time, it will make the experience for some fans alot more enjoyable as they will get to see a range of bands and it will ope the fest to others that really wouldnt have come before.

but really, open ure eyes a bit. Why are you all being so narrow minded? give them a goddam chance! you can like other stuff than just heavy metal... its not the law that if u like metal u cant like anything else. They really are brilliant musicians, just listen to songs like 'silently' on thier album...it truly is brilliant...there is so much to their songs... stuff that most people wouldnt even pick up on.

Its not all about heavy distorted guitars and what most would consider 'screaming' for singing.

And they wont be playing on the main stage so if u dont want to see them.. go elsewhere.

they dont deserve all the crap they keep getting, but last year they made a go of it and did fookin well.

You've got ure tickets, so off u trot and watch the bands YOU want.

hell yes to the Papa Roach/Disturbed thing. Elliot Minor : In the videos / photoshoots they remind me of cute little kids with instruments. Eveywhere else I see them (non-official photos etc.).....not so cute.But thats no reason to abuse them, to each their own and shit .
I'm beginning to wonder if anyone cares about them. What self-respecting label would allow its band to be killed at download? Poor guys. They just dont know what they've got themselves in for.

Why is everyone going so over the top with this? I'm sorry but is it really so bad that elliot minor are going to be at Download? They were there last year after all.

The festival is finally having a variation of bands, it's not a bad thing.

There is more than one stage at Download aint there? That means that you don't have to watch EVERY band on the line-up!

It's not the end of the world, really.

I know everyone is entitled to their opinion and that's all the people in the above comments are doing but I just think that if you don't like EM, or Simple Plan, or Madina Lake, etc. then don't watch them! Simple as that!
