Green Day admit to secret identity

Yesterday Green Day 'fessed-up to the worst kept secret in history by e-mailing MTV to admit that yup, they are indeed garage rock band The Foxboro Hot Tubs.

"We think that the only similarity is that we are the same band," says frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. "We are four guys who love to play music and be spontaneous, [and] after a few late night jams and a few too many bottles of wine, we were inspired to record some rockin' eight-track recordings."

Armstrong also told the US television network that he has been so thrilled with the response to free The Foxboro Hot Tubs MP3s posted on www.foxborohottubs.com that they will be releasing a full-length album on April 29 in the US.

"If you want to buy it, buy it. If you already have it, buy it anyway!" he says.

It probably won't change anything, since most people here seem to have all the literacy of a three-year-old, but I thought I'd try.

Seriously, why do you people care what people listen to? Going "ZOMG lyk ur favourite band suckz!!1eleventy!" generally tends to piss people off, not make them suddenly decide "Holy crap, you're right. Let me completely rebuild my CD collection based on the words of some person from the internet". Having said that, the "Green Day rules, STFU LOL!" comments do the same. And if you love the band so much, you should know it's two words, not one.

I'm a fan of Green Day but somehow don't feel the need to attack everyone that isn't, with the help of poor grammar and an abundance of spelling mistakes.

And lastly, the quote at the end of the article is a JOKE. Get it through your skulls.

What's up with some of you fans out there? Surely if you're on this site you must love rock music, and every single band on this site shares your passion for it. Yes, some bands screw up a bit but why harass them so badly? Surely all of us should stick together and forget about insulting bands and start being more affecionate to them. If you don't like them, why waste you're time writing hate-mail? If you're not supporting them then just leave them be. Support your bands..

Hey yeah i am a pretty obsessive Green Day fan and it annoys me that they take forever to bring out new stuff. I mean yeah they have been doing this..but its just not the same...i miss them and shit its been like 4 years since American Idiot..and they dont even keep the fans up to date on what they do, for example they bearly ever update their website. I think they have lost heaps of fans by taking this long to do stuff. :(

This was recorded at the same time, while they're taking day breaks from their album or write stuff that won't fit the album. this is just a way to get rid of songs that won't fit the album but they wanna release them anyway.

the albums coming out in octoberish probably. but cause it's green day it'll probably be december at least lol just to be awkward.

That's not really helpful. You say it's aimed at Bush. But what part of the so called story does Bush play? Or is referenced to? You're the one calling it a rock opera, so there should be a storyline. But you haven't actually given any plot details.

ok well its really hard to explain over internet but ill try my best...

In American Idiot Tre' Cool (drummer) quoted "American Idiot was sort of a whole new lets take on the planet kinda vibe" because it was sort of above anything they'd ever done before.

I guess in every album they try to tell a story but American Idiot was different.

It was a classic album!

Anyway...

If u have the album or have heard any songs like "Holiday" (is probably the perfect example of a big fuck you to all the politicians) and fucking Bush if you've heard Holiday well the lyrics in the song you have to really listen to them to know what the story was.

Its so hard to explain to another person if you don't even like Green Day because that album and all of their albums as a matter of fact are so incredibly deep.

But American Idiot was like Green Day making a statement that the whole fucking world is fucked up and nobody knows where the hell they're going in life (which is basically true)!

Anyway long story short Green Day took over the world with American Idiot!(just saying)

So...

The story they were telling was of this character called "St. Jimmy" that was a hell of a lot like Billie-Joe but in their song "Homecoming" "St. Jimmy" commited sucide.

And Scadey's term "Rock opera" was the perfect explanation of American Idiot because Green Day usually have a theme for every album they ever made.And American Idiot was just apparently better but it wasn't my favourite album "Shenanigans" was mine not that its important or you really care.

But American Idiot the album didn't come from just Billie-Joe's mind like it did with almost every other album did American Idiot the album came from Mike Dirnt and Tre' Cool and Jason White and also Jason Freeze's mind because they were responsible for some of the songwriting also.

But Jesus Of Suburbia was filled with so much emotion.

So eventually after all the crap i've already written all the songs on American Idiot were connected like in the song American Idiot their singing about the character St. Jimmy but in Wake Me Up When September Ends its about his dad dying of cancer basically every other song on that album is connected together.

And if you still don't understand the story either write to Green Day and ask them personally , ask someone else or buy the album and look up all the lyrics (i'd advise you to buy the album)
