She deserves to be remembered, how tragic she was killed by a couple of mindless c**ty chavs.

All chavs should rot in hell period.

i agree that she deserves to be remebered and that i have repect for this charity but what you said is totally wrong

that weekend is gettuing all genres together

goths, emos, chavs, metalheads, rappers.

so you saying chavs should rot in hell is totally wrong
i mean the whole point of this is for everyone to be treat equally not what your saying.

you obz don't have a clue about this.

so get a grip

That IS kinda the point of the weekend.

It's so sad about how she died, even more so WHY she did.

What right did they have to kill her because she looks different?
Look at her, she's absolutely stunning.
If I lived closer to Basingstoke, I'd go to this without even thinking about it.
I just hope many people turn up and they raise lots for her family...

I agree with Megan, she's beautiful, and I hope that the event raises a huge amount of money. I cant attend beause of distance, but if I lived closer, I would be there the whole three days

I hope that this will be an event where, for once, chavs, emos, rappers, metalheads and goths can put their differences to rest and enjoy the weekend as one big communal family fighting for one cause.

Perhaps this will show the rest of the UK how to act towards each other and we can end the 'war' between different social classes

I think this is a great idea i just hope it sends a message out to the monsters who killed her because although sophie died she is still alive in the people that loved and knew her, she didn't deserve to die just because she looked and dressed differently, i hope they raise loads and loads of money in her memory.

I thinks its a great idea to hold this event to raise awareness of the discrimination that a lot of us alternatative fans have or will experience especially those by the tragic sophie lancaster and her boy friend, but some of the abuse that we are venting towards the 'chavs' if we keep it up it'll make us much the same way, this event is about tolerence remember that people.

I'm so pleased to hear that people care enough about Sophie Lancaster's death to organise a gig in memory of her, and to raise money. I just goes to show how much people are willing to do to help her family and friends, and of course, her boyfriend Robert Matley. No one could wish what happened to Sophie upon anyone, and I'm so glad that this gig is taking place. I will mean a lot to her parents and everyone who knew her, and it's also sending out a message to the people to killed her. It's fantastic people are willing to do so much for Sophie, and I'd like to thank them for that. Xxx

I live in the Burnley and Pendle area, there large gangs of youths that hang around the local shops and I know that I can't go down their because of the fact that I am labelled as a Goth. I am glad that their is a charity wanting to promote harmony between different social groups.

I live in Basingstoke, and am just one of a large number of people helping to promote and run the gig. If anyone can make it to Basingstoke on any of the 3 days it would be great to see you. The pub is literally out the back entrance of the main train station. If you can't make it I believe that it is possible to donate directly through the In Memory of Sophie Lancaster MySpace page

Why did the bastards pick on an innocent couple that didn't deserve what they got. This gig will be great but as long as you remember the purpose of it, to remember her.

cool that they made an anagram out of s.o.p.h.i.e any other name wouldn't work

I hope the twats that did this to Sophie rot, and die of guilt...forget fighting over countries and oil...the war'll be in UK over groups and genres of music.

Unfortunately, i can't make it...but...I hope everyone who's going has a great time and Sophie may long be remembered. x

I also live in Basingstoke and will be attending this event, i am not a goth or a chav, i don't think i could be put in a class, i'm just a married mum of 2 who happens to like all different kinds of music, i am friends with sum goths, chavs and other sorts of people, i don't class them thou, i see them as friends, they may dress differently to others but that doesnt make the whole person, i know when i attend the event i'm not gonna be singled out for not having piercings or not wearing a specific colour, it's great to see that it has generated alot of interest and i hope that this shows thru over the weekend, hope to see alot of varied faces there!

The weekender is about tolerance, highlight and supporting the S.O.P.H.I.E campaign.
Helping to contact schools, colleges, to get them to go to free education exhibition like "Dress to Express" that will be touring around the country.
Also getting people to contact government to bring not just awareness but hopefully change.
To all that do come, Dress Bold and with Pride..

i think what you are doing is awesome. its shows ppl that we have to join together to help stop people hating us because our looks or lables

its messed up..she was so beautiful and
i am defo coming to this

i just hope everyone sees we have to respect others. if we show hate to others they will show hate back.. and lash out

i read sophies boyfriends artical in k! and i was crying it was so sweet

she must have been an awesome girl

Dont mention Diana...she's dead - why are we wasting fucking money to see how she died? NO ONE CARES.

Sophie Lancaster however... It made me nearlly cry to hear that someone had been killed due to how they dress - I had this problem - I was grabbed by the throat due to the same issue.

Hate Crimes are wrong - so why do people let it happen?

Posted by Please | April 16, 2008 12:33 PM | Reply to this

I agree with everyone who thinks that it was a good idea to do this in her memory. and i swear to god...for those sick fucks who killed her and badly injured her boyfriends...hell is even too good for them. let alone prison. if you ask me, the death penalty should be bought back to england and any murderer should be put through it. it is in NO WAY acceptable for people to murder people. i think the murderers got off lightly...waaaaay lightly. and as "Alison" said, i read her b/f's article and cried tbh. why is the world so bad theese days?

can anyone post up or send me the link to the Sophie Lancaster myspace page thats been setup?

I read about it in NME and would like to support it.

Its a really tragic story and my feelings go out to Sophie's family and friends.

RIP Sophie

A very good friend of mine pass away a
coulpe of months ago at the age of 22. he died af natural causes. We are having a gig for him to.

I've spent two days reading up on what happened and I'd like to say that Rob Matey must have a world of strength not to be on the warpath with the world

Posted by bob | April 23, 2008 12:07 PM | Reply to this

Why are Chav mums so fucking ignorant of these things called condoms? It's a lot easier than bringing up your kids right... and it seems to be one or the fucking other as options, doesn't it always? Makes me want to get sentenced just to get into the same prison as these fuckers and make sure they regret it a lot more than the average convicted murderer... Can someone organise a team to post photos of Sophie's mutilated face through every one of these arsehole family's doors EVERY DAY until the world runs out of paper or they kill themselves? Hate might be wrong, but so much hate is about frustration at the lack of justice in the world, wouldn't you say?

Hi everyone
Im a 46 year old father of 2 and am devastated by the Sophie and Robert tragedy. I live locally to the victims and am a mountain trekker. For me Im going to put a reef at the top of scafell pike in memory of Sophie, its my way of showing my appreciation for this young ladies life. Im a hardy bloke but have been reduced to tears regarding the events as they have unfolded. My 23 year old daughter, Katherine knows Robert and was a Goth herself a few years ago. Now I may not be a young rocker of today, so will show my tribute by putting a memorial at the highest point in England for this tragic young girls life.
If anyone wants there name added to this memorial then please E-mail me at annenptn@yahoo.co.uk . I will be going up at the end of May

What happened to young Sophie is awful beyond words and those who are of an alternative nature have really taken this tragedy to heart. My name is Alicia and I've decided to make a documentary based on the prejudice that goth/punks/rockers etc have suffered for countless years. I will be reffering to the case of our sister Sophie also, so I can keep her name alive. As part of this I am organising a march through the city of Sheffield where we hope to raise some awareness and money for the campaign, finishing off with a free gig. Everyone is welcome, alternative or not, we merely march to celebrate our diversity, to show the world everyone is beautiful just the way they are and prjudice towards ANYONE is something we cannot tolerate anymore. Anyone interested please see my facebook group for updated info. xx
