Bring Me The Horizon have completed work on Suicide Season, their follow-up to 2006's Count Your Blessings.
The album was produced by legendary producer Fredrik Nordström (At The Gates, Dimmu Borgir) at his studio in Arboga, Sweden, and according to frontman Oli Sykes, the isolation of recording an hour away from anywhere had its advantages.
"We recorded Count Your Blessings in the middle of Birmingham and it was very easy to get distracted," he tells Kerrang!, "Arboga is a village with nothing in it apart from a tiny shop and that was it. We actually lived at the studio so it meant we could all just focus on the music. Fredrik was a cool guy, and he taught us how to do stuff, so at night after he'd gone home we'd still be recording the album."
The new record - which features guest appearances from vocalist Sam Carter of Architects and electronic mangler Luis Dubuc of The Secret Handshake - sees the Yorkshire quintet moving away from the sound of their first album.
"I'd say it's more rock than metal," he explains, "It's heavy though, and it sounds a lot fatter and beefier. We've also done some mellower tracks too."
Sykes reveals that the infamous incident at Nottingham Rock city on April 8, 2007 - where a female fan claimed Sykes had urinated on her, which was later dismissed by courts - has inspired one vitriolic new track.
"It's called No Need For Introductions, I've Read About Girls Like You On The Backs Of Toilet Doors," says Sykes. "It's only 30 seconds long and was a great way just to relieve my stress over everything that happened. I really got all my anger out on it!"
Suicide Season is due out September 22 through Visible Noise.
