Dillinger join forces with PETA!

New Jersey hardcore quintet The Dillinger Escape Plan have joined forces with PETA, the largest animal rights organisation in the world.

Bassist player Liam Wilson became a vegan after discovering the reality behind the manufacture of meat products as detailed in John Robbins' Diet For A New America.

"I was like, 'This is fucked'," says Wilson. "I was vegetarian for about two weeks. Then I read Robbins' book and thought, 'I'm just gonna be vegan'."

And despite the band's tough exterior, Wilson's bandmates have a gooey centre. They're all self- confessed animal lovers: frontman Greg Puciato's dog Flash was rescued from the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), while drummer Gil Sharone has two wolf hybrids that he calls his "angels". The band's pets have become like children to them and believe any harm done to animals should be treated with the same seriousness as if a human had been mistreated.

"I really think it should be treated like child abuse", says guitarist Ben Weinman, whose wrinkly pug Blix was the unlikely star of the band's cover feature last November.

The Dillinger Escape Plan in their PETA ad - Kerrang!

When asked about Atlanta Falcons NFL star Michael Vick - who was convicted for his involvement in the Bad Newz Kennels dog fighting ring last year - the band were only too happy to give their opinion.

"Training a dog to fight is disgusting," adds Puciato. "Then to punish it for not performing well is ridiculous."

"You can see it in their eyes, you don't have to be a genius to see that these dogs are scared shitless," spits Sharone. "They don't want to be touched, they don't want to be fucked with and they don't want to fight! These guys are just pathetic."

Aha, it's about time some band joined forces with PETA, maybe people will finally start to pay attention to what's going on with animals and stuff

It's quite cute, but I think they're acting as bid heroes now, because helping animals is such a big deal these days. I'm not too keen on the band either.

"frontman Greg Puciato's dog Flash was rescued from the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)"

Yeah, because he couldn't get a dog from PETA's shelters, as they kill any animal they get hold of.

im sorry but thats a load of crap "I really think it should be treated like child abuse" no no it shouldnt i dont think animals should be abused but when it gets the stage where you value an animals life on the same level as a humans its gone too far

Couldnt agree more...

The thing is, PETA don't value an animal's life on the same level as a human, they value it more.

Sadly, whenever I ask them to volunteer to replace the monkeys in my experiments, they decline. Hypocrites.

Between every 10-20 minutes, another species goes extinct. Humans are just to stupid to realize that we're just that- stupid. Animals have created a way of life just as complicated as ours in the areas that we haven't killed. One difference- they learned how to keep things more balanced instead of being power hungry, dominant, idiots. It's not going to far. It's finally realizing how far we have to go.

Aw no, poor animals. Newsflash. Extinctions have always happened. That's the way it goes. 95% of all life died out at the end of the Permian, look at the dionosaurs - are you going to somehow blame humans for that too?

We're at top of the food chain. If animals can't deal with the situation, they die out - it's that simple, and always has been.

And species traitors need to go the same way.
Exterminate PETA!

I love Dillinger but PETA are a narrow minded, ignorant, hypocrytical and dangerous organisation that have been linked to numeous cases of terrorist activities, many of there key members being convicted criminals. And yes, most animals the rescue they kill, claiming the its better they die than be used in tests. Tests that save lives, including animal lives and progress humanity as a whole. If ur vegan fine, but dont follow PETA. Dillinger are not a smart as i thought it seems.

Thats is the most amount of crap i have ever heard. A totally ignorantly idiological anthropomorphised view on the animal kindom as a whole, exactly what u would expect from a PETA supporter. Im an ecologist, so i know what im talking about. the animal kingdom is a violent, brutal and unforgiving fight for dominance and survival no matter what species, plant or animal. That is how we came to be, it is only humans that show behaviour considered to be compassion or tolerance on any measurable level. Anyway, PETA is about animal abuse in homes and industry...not conservation or extinction.

I think people are a little misguided on the subject of Animal Testing (Judging by some of these comments)... You do realise, from past 'results', Flipping a coin is a more surefire way of testing drugs?

"many of there key members"? Learn some basic grammar and then I might have the slightest respect for your opinion. PETA do good work in raising awareness of the issues surrounding the ways that animals are treated these days, and the only ignorant ones are those who shut their eyes to the cruelty and injustice of this.
Good on Dillinger, they rock!

Oh no, a grammer insult! Ha ha ha ha ha, you judge people by THEIR typos, you are soooo cool! Firstly, Im dylexic...so thanks for that...secondly, i have masters degree in Ecology, so you should listen to my opinion on this matter, as im on your side. Im not going to bother telling you exactly why you're an idiot, as your probably just a little kid, and i'm afraid, you are sadly the one who is ignorant. Oscar Wilde was spot on when he said 'All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in fact' So, go read a book and grow up.

Ok, calm down, calm down! If you knew more about me you would find that none of your "comments" about me are true, but I'll leave you to it. I support PETA, you obviously don't, enough's enough.

Meat tastes better when the animal suffers.
