Slipknot "our new album will rip your face off'

Slipknot are currently on a two week "studio lock-down" putting the finishing touches to their as-yet-untitled fourth album which is set for release in September.

According to frontman Corey Taylor, the follow-up to 2004's Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) is "going to rip your face off."

"I don't think the world will be ready for this album," Taylor told US mag Billboard. "It's a cross between Vol. 3 and [2001's] Iowa. It has so much power in it and yet there are so many great spots for melody. It's a controlled chaos that hits you right out of the gate."

When asked about the album's lyrical content, Taylor said:

"Instead of bitching about what went wrong in my life, I'm bitching about what's wrong in life, PERIOD."

Taylor also says the album will have more melodic vocals:

"I got to the point where I was tired of pretending that I couldn't sing every time I made a Slipknot album," he said. "So this time I'm going all out."

But melodic vocals doesn't mean that this record will be any less menacing. Taylor refused to go into specifics, but he did say that the record is "very dark and will fit in everything image-wise that we're making with this album."

take all these vastly overated bands like bullet,paramore,panic at the fucking disco, fall out cocks, mcr msi or whatever theyre fucking called and last and certainly least 30 fucking seconds to mars and theyre nothing next to slipknot. its time for all the cocks i mentioned up there to step aside and let them be shwon what being a rock/metal band is all about.

well they've self-confirmed, what more confirming do you need? just keep checking the festival site for updates (usually on mondays) to see what stage they play.

back on topic though, can't wait for the new album :D i'm actually more excited about seeing their new masks aswel haha!

..look forward to seeing if Slipknot are going to make anything other than 'pseudo-heavy metal for 14 year olds in black hoodies and bagggy jeans' as they are talented beyond what there image suggests. I dont mind slipknot but really they are to metal what MCR are to emo. Image first, music second. No difference that all the bands slipknot fans complain about. They are'nt even that heavy at all...still musically much better than most of those kinds of bands though, i just personally hate the whole image thing.

Album will be huuuuge!!!

Corey has a lot of talent - and a sexy voice .. the music can still be passionate!!! but personally I like being able to hear the words without having to read them first !!!!!

the only band that comes remotely close to the same genre as slipknot are Bullet from the list you mentioned, so why list them? FOB, panic, mcr are a completely different genre so what was the point?

you have your opinion and thats fine, of course you're entitled to it, im not going to be one of these people that i see on here that tries to combat the slagging off of other bands by sayin "dont comment about them" etc, you know the type, truth is i was a slipknot fan, and 'slipknot' is in fact an album i really like still, problem is slipknot haven't released a good album since and in themselves are massively over-rated.

btw sick tat, really looks good.

it's alrite to go aroudn slagging off everyone elses favourite band, but when someone does it to his it's a different story.

everyones opinion is valid

and to add mine. i have nothing against slipknots image, but i believe they wouldnt be the band they are today without it. They'd just be a normal metal band, it's the masks that made them stand out at the time when the world was engulfed with nu-metal drivel

joey is a fucking amazing drummer, corey is an amazing singer but the others don't really stand out.
there still my favourite band though and always will be.
whens the new album coming out.
