As I Lay Dying pay tribute to Arnie

As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis has taken his love of Arnold Schwarzenegger films to extreme levels with the debut release of his side-project Austrian Death Machine.

The album Total Brutal pays noisy homage to the '80s action hero and current Governor of California, basing the songs on well-known lines from Predator and Commando.

Lambesis performs all of the instruments and sings on the album and is joined by Destroy The Runner vocalist Chad Ackerman, who provides an uncanny Schwarzenegger impersonation on comedy interludes throughout the 17-track album.

"When I originally recorded the album I used clips from Schwarzenegger movies, but when it came down to the final mix I started to get worried that I might get sued for using stuff without permission," explains Lambesis.

Which film does Lambesis regard as Schwarzenegger's finest work?

"Total Recall is my favourite because it is surprisingly philosophical, even though it's unintentionally hilarious at times." he reveals.

Austrian Death Machine is out now through Metal Blade. Get to the chopp-uh!

Whether it's any good is irrelevent - this is lifting another bands schtick wholesale!

I wouldn't describe it as brutal thrash metal either - It's too slow for starters. Generic metal that would have been popular about five years ago would be more accurate.

Arnocorps aren't original either, so get over it. listen to their music and tell me you've never heard anything like it. They are generic musicians, and my old band incorporated some Arnie lyrics in our metal back in the mid-90's. Who cares. You don't argue over whether pepsi or coke came first, You just drink your favorite.
