Rage's return to the UK marred by stabbing

What should have been a triumphant return to the UK for one of rock's most influential bands was marred by violence.

Following Rage Against The Machine's headline set on Saturday (July 12) at this weekend's T In The Park festival, a 22-year-old man was stabbed 11 times as he returned to his tent. He is now in a critical condition in hospital.

"It was a very serious incident where a camper was seriously assaulted and stabbed numerous times in the head and body," Detective Chief Inspector Bruce Kerr told the BBC. "We're urgently trying to trace the males responsible and we're asking any campers or visitors to T In The Park, if they come across a blood-stained knife or similar weapon please leave it and contact any police officer or any steward right away. It's very important we do that because we still haven't found the weapon yet."

In a separate incident, the body of a 32-year-old man was discovered in his tent at lunchtime yesterday. Police said the cause of death is still to be confirmed, but insist that there were no suspicious circumstances.

It's just so.... damn ugly.

I mean fancy being that guys parents and getting that awful phonecall. And there they are thinking, he's at a music festival, having a good time or whatever and then you find out he's critically ill in hospital having been stabbed at said festival.

It's just soo ugly. There are some real sick, twisted nutcases out there to do this.

i fail to see why this is tagged under ratm and not under t in the park are you not just pointing the finger and blaming rage for this happening is there and chance you could explain why they got tagged and the other bands playing that day did not, or even better why any band should of been tagged with this horrific shit happening at a festival surly you should blame T in the park for lack of security on camp sites or some shit like that.who to say the attacker even went to watch rage that night?

i think its because rage are a very political band, and they will probably get their feelings across about this somehow. who can forget when they came on stage totally naked, with duct tape over their mouths, and just stood there for 15 minutes in protest over a censorship business?

secondly, its cause theyre back after 8 years, and nobody wants something like this to happen when a band come back after nearly a decade to enterain audiences again.

The amount of knife crime in the UK is getting so fucking ridiculous. Why hasn't the government done anything to actually help yet!?

But it's not normal, this should not be happening. People go to, for example, T in the Park to have the time of their life, enjoying great music like Rage en others, violence shouldn't be there.

It sucks so much! Now other people will/might be scared and not go to a festival like this again.
This is not making a good name for T in the Park, those stupid murderers should turn themselves in and let people like this man enjoy music like everybody else, and not be to worried about some freaking hooligans/murderers. (like stated before)

Poor guy, he must've paid alot to go to T in the Park, and that's what he gets. Still, it makes ZOO8 look a little better, since there was a man running round slashing tents with a machete and tkaing peoples stuff but no1 was hurt.

The guy who got stabbed isnt dead, he got taken to ICU at a near-by hostpital, and i think he's left the ICU now (according to the news), but he got stabbed after he was trying to help one of his mates, cos she was getting accosted by two guys.

But its no surprise that a stabbing happened a TITP, with the amount of drunk neds on the campsite something like this is always going to happen.

Anyway, i hope the guy makes a full recovery and they catch the folk who did it.

It's not Rage's fault that the guy got stabbed.

Knife crime has been a problem in South West Scotland for decades now.

Glasgow has around 10% of the population of London and has had 98 murders in the last 3 years.

Thankfully the excellent work by the medical people at the festival meant that they saved this young man's life.

I love how everyone is wishing this guy well when we know nothing about him or why he was stabbed. For all we know he could have been a drug dealer dealing drugs at the festival. Maybe one of his 'customers' got a little out of hand, not saying he deserved it or condoning knife crime, but maybe he brought it on himself and maybe he doesn't deserve your support. On the other hand he may have been a totally innocent guy who was just enjoying the weekend and is now in hospital thanks to some twat. Just reserve your messeges of 'get better soon' until the facts come out.

Jeez Kerrang! Your getting nearly as bad as the Daily Mail - blaming bands for tragice things that weren't at all the bands fault. Dave - good point. I won't say Good Luck just yet, I'll still think it though, and I just hoped the guy/s/girl/s who did it gets caught; even if that guy wasn't innocent they migh attack someone who is. I pity the parents of the one's who attacked him - the shame of having a child who'd do that, even if they deserved it.

Kerrang aren't blaming RATM you retards.
They were just saying how RATM asked the crowd to look, and since RATM are a ROCK band, (Unlike Pete Wentz' Craptacular Music ft. Patrick Stump and The Other Two) Kerrang saw it as a chance to report on a band helping out at such a horrible incident.
The under-lying bit of advice is also - be fuckin' careful at festivals. Sure riots break out, but the moment you see the glint of a knife no matter how drunk you are, TELL SECURITY.

What the hell does RATM have to do with the stabbing, its a complately different thing, infact i bet the Neds (Scottish Chavs) that did it have never even heard of RATM and were only there coz there is a dance tent and there off their face on E and smack.
This is the first time in 15 years since it started that anything like this has happened at T, and happens every year at other festivals. This was a total one off, and enough zenophobic comments about Scots please, remember your country is run by one (badly tbh tho) lol

That's pretty strange how a body was found in the same place someone was stabbed. And why the hell are so many people being stabbed in UK lately??? Everyday since about three weeks ago there has been at least one case of a stabbing on the news! What the hell is wrong with people?? It's like a big group of sick fucks have gotten together and made a bet to see how many people they can stab in a certain space of time! It's fucking sick!! Anyone who carries around a knife just to stab people should be fucking locked up forever, or just shot. Ok, a bit harsh, but it really does make you wonder if shooting them is the only way you can stop knife crime.

The guy is doing better - should be out of hospital in 3 or 4 days. They guys who stabbed him were harrasing one of his female friends and he tried to stop it.

This has nothing to do with Rage - they played a blinding set, which I was lucky enough to witness, and this incident happened a while after their set.

Police made 67 arrests over the weekend which is only one more than last year and there was an extra 5000 people this year.

I hope this doesn't affect the good name T in the Park has made for itself and that people/newspapers dont over react.

The stabbing and death at T in the Park, it being only twenty minutes up the road from me was quite disturbing to hear.

Although the facts that have came out are as follows

The 22 year old that was stabbed 11 times in the head and body was attacked by two men after he was trying to save his girlfriend as she as being accosted by two men.

The death was totally unrelated, and he was found in his tent, by his friends, at about 11 in the morning, and it was ment to be of a medical condition, so that could have been anything.

i was at T, it was an amazing weekend, but its such a shame that something like this has happened.
i'm just annoyed with media linking the stabbing to things its clearly nothing to do with. for instance, my local newspaper saying things like 'fan stabbed hours before Amy Winehouse takes to the stage'. who gives a fuck how long before Amy Winehouse it happened?

thankfully the guy is making a full recovery though. i hope they catch the wankers who did it.
