Former Blink 182 (and current +44) drummer Travis Barker and celebrity disc jockey Adam Goldstein – also known as DJ AM – are in critical condition after surviving a plane crash which killed four people in South Carolina on September 20.
Hours earlier, the duo performed with Perry Farrell in front of thousands of students at a South Carolina college.
The four victims included pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, and co-pilot James Bland, 52 and two members of Barker’s entourage: personal assistant Chris Baker, 29, and bodyguard Charles Still, 25.
The small plane carrying the duo is reported to have encountered difficulties on take off from Columbia Metropolitan Airport shortly before midnight and it is thought that the plane suffered a tyre blow-out shortly before the crash, which engulfed the aircraft in flames.
Barker and Goldstein are said to be in a critical but stable condition at the Joseph Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia, 75 miles from the scene of the accident.
Barker is being treated for second and third degree burns on his body and legs, whilst it is said Goldstein is being kept in an incubator to prevent infection to burns sustained to his head and body.
A joint statement released by Barker and Goldstein’s families said: "Since both Barker and Goldstein are in overall good health and didn't suffer from any other crash-related complications, a full recovery is expected.”
