Johnny Truant have announced they are to call it a day.

"We have had many amazing years and made many great friends along the way," said the band in a statement on their official MySpace page. "Thank you to everyone that has supported us and shared so many amazing times with us, it's been a hell of a ride and one that we are very proud of."

Bands like this one always wind up disbanding and I believe it is, in part, due to the lack of press coverage and record label support that so many of their arguably less talented peers often get.

And conveniently, its another British band that we've lost, to add to the ever growing list that includes One Minute Silence, Beecher, SikTh, etc. etc. If people and the rock press spent as much time paying attention to the UK rock/metal underground, rather than obsessing over the American and clean-cut British scenes, then we might start to slow the ever-growing number of names to that list.

Of course, not every underground band is going to make it huge, but you don't hear anything about them whatsoever, bar a few measly column inches every month or two. Let's change that trend now! Kerrang in particular could do a lot more to support the UK scene.

Valid points but as I've said before K! is in the business of selling magazines for sales not for the love of music.

They know if they put MCR, Paramore et al on the cover it will sell more. You only have to look at the comments on this site for proof.

Then come to an exhbition at Juice 107.2 Studios 170 North Street Brighton next to Northern Rock on Saturday (8th November) which is by Brighton photographers and consists of photographs of Brighton bands including JT taken by myself at the reopening of the Freebutt, which is also shortly going to disband.

I look forward to a farewell fuck up hopefully at the Freebutt at xmas.

I know what you're saying, I agree with you. My comments aren't a snipe at Kerrang in general, there's plenty other magazines out there who can do more. For me its not really about getting them on the front cover - just a bit more support for them would be nice.
