Metallica are set to return to the UK next February and March for a full tour in support of their Number One album Death Magnetic.
Despite numerous festival appearances and one-off shows such as their fan club-only charity gig in aid of the Youth Music charity at London's O2 Arena last month, next year's dates will mark the Bay Area metal titans' first proper UK tour since their Poor Touring Me European trek in October 1996.
"Touring is still so much fun for us, in fact it's more fun now than it's ever been," drummer Lars Ulrich told Kerrang! magazine. "It's incredibly flattering that there are still so many people out there who want to see us play, and it's still a pleasure for us to head out and play for them."
Be sure to bring your earplugs though, as Ulrich and Co promise to well and truly blow off the cobwebs with some of the loudest, most badass shows of their career.
"The Metallica engine is well oiled, the amps are turned up to 11 and everything is good," smiles the drummer. "The spirits in the band are pretty high at the moment. We are pysched to be returning to the UK!"
