NIN member to quit band

Nine Inch Nails drummer Josh Freese is set to leave the band at the end of the year.

The announcement was made on the band’s official website, www.nin.com.

“Josh Freese fans, be sure to check out a show on the upcoming North American leg of the tour, as sadly they will be the last ones he's playing with us,” says frontman Trent Reznor. “Yes, we are still dear friends. No, I'm not sure what we are going to do.”

Who do you think should replace Freese in the role?

ignoring the 2 tards above me, this is bad news. Not horrific, as he was never, like anyone but TR, permament, but what Trent's gonna do for the rest of the tour remains to be seen.

Hopefully he'll use his pigface connections for a heavier live show (at least drum-wise)

As much as I adore Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster as they are, poaching another one of their members for NiN would make for one hell of a line-up!

Josh was a hero!

Just a stupid idea but how about Dave Grohl? Foo Fighters aren't doing anything soon so he'll have a load of free time to crack out the sticks again.

It won't happen, but just thought i'd throw the idea out there.

Hope they hurry up and tour the UK again, their perfromance at Reading '07 was immense.

it's a shame, he's a great drummer, my peraonal favourite in the alternative music scene and it'll be NIN's loss, though they'll probably get a suitable replacement for him. Sad all the same though maybe they should just try to get an unkown to help bring new blood into the band.

not a huge surprise really, it's Trent's band and always has been so it's usually been a revolving door system with band members, I'm sure Josh has been in and out of the band more times than I care to remember.

Unless this really IS him doen and dusted with NIN and never going to tour/record with them?
