K! Dot Com can exclusively reveal that Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Trivium and Limp Bizkit have been added to the bill of this year's Kerrang!-sponsored Download festival.
Def Leppard return to Donington Park after a 23 year gap, having last played at the historic site in 1986 as part of the Monsters Of Rock festival.
"We were just a bunch of kids who didn't want to work in a factory and started a band to see what would happen," Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliot told Kerrang! "31 years later we are headlining Download! It's a great feeling."
Meanwhile, fellow Brit rock legends, Whitesnake, clock up a fourth Donington appearance joining The Lepp as Very Special Guests, while young metal-titans-in-the-making, Trivium, clock up their third Download appearance.
“I think Download is amazing and all three days on this year’s festival are so diverse," frontman Matthew Heafy told K! "It’s going to be one Hell of a weekend for all concert goers – and I am excited for them and for us! We are going to destroy it!”
As hinted earlier today, newly reformed nu-metal heroes Limp Bizkit will also be playing Download 2009.
"We decided we were more disgusted and bored with the state of heavy popular music than we were with each other," said frontman Fred Durst and guitarist Wes Borland in a joint statement.
The three-day festival, which takes place at Donington Park on June 12, 13 and 14, will also see appearances from Slipknot, The Prodigy, Korn, Motley Crue, Pendulum, DragonForce and DevilDriver.
Tickets for Download 2009 will go on sale at 9am tomorrow (February 13) from www.aloud.com. Prices are as follows: a full weekend ticket: £135, camping: £25, family camping: £25, car parking: £10 advance, £20 on the day, camper vans: £40, lockers: £11.
