Metallica and Linkin Park are set to headline a brand new festival at Knebworth House this summer.
Sonisphere is a seven-date travelling festival which takes in shows in Holland, Germany, Spain, Sweden and Finland before closing with a weekend event in the UK on August 1 and 2.
Support bands will include Mastodon, Lamb Of God and we understand that Alice In Chains and a reunited Faith No More have also been approached.
"We're very honoured to be given the chance to headline at a place that has such a rich history," Metallica frontman James Hetfield told Kerrang!. "The beauty of coming back this time is that we've got a new record on the shelves to slam into peoples faces, so it feels less like an excuse to play a 'best of' set!"
