Eminem knocks Green Day off the top spot.

Manic Street Preachers have entered on the British album charts at number three with their new studio album, Journal For Plague Lovers.

In related news, Green Day, who debuted at number one last week with their much anticipated new album, 21st Century Breakdown, have been knocked off the top spot by Eminem, while their squalling-selling 2004 album, American Idiot, re-entered the charts at number 64.

The Prodigy's Invaders Must Die is at number 7 after thirteen weeks on the chart, while Nickeback's Darkhorse is at 27 after 26 weeks on the chart.

Biffy Clyro side-project, Marmaduke Duke, slip from 14 to 42 with their second album, Duke Pandemonium. And finally screamo-crunk nerks Holywood Undead debut at number 85 with Swan Songs.

Green Day are miles superior to Eminem. I'm not saying he's that bad but Green Day are in a whole other class to him. I reckon they'll stay near the top longer than him though.

Good to see Manics up there too, there new album in mint quality! And the Prodigy too.

Green Day are pop punk and Eminem is hip-hop. To compare the two would be like comparing a subaru and a killer whale.

It's little to do with talent, moreso to do with popularity (you just have to see the past Xmas number 1's for this)

Green Day's new album and single, in my opinion, are awful. Then again so is Eminem's. This coming from someone who has all their albums and seen both artists live.

Green Day only achieve chart success via popularity and not via great music.

I love both bands but Eminem's latest effort was much better than green Day's. Eminem's was possibly his best (up with Marshall Mathers and Encore). Green Day's was a little weak, but very good. Not a match for their earlier stuff though.

i like both of them but green day are miles more my style, they are just so random and stuff, they make us laugh. and thier music is fab. but if you put all the people who liked eminem in a room, and all those who liked green day, who would need the bigger room? its obviously going to be eminem, because there are far too many chavs in this country.

Personally I think Eminem is a better artist than Green Day are. Him getting number 1 just furthers this point. It's not that I dislike Green Day, but if you listen to both of these albums Eminem's is a personal favourite, Green Day just havn't produced this time round.

why is kerrang playing his music anyway ?? he doesnt make rock or punk or anything kerrang! usually plays(good music) . i personally think he is a crappy musician and his lyrics are all the same and usualy with some techno shit in the background . green day at least have the ability to make some real music with instruments and actually SING their songs but dont talk them. also .. why are everyone talking about humor in his lyrics ?? they're mostly about how fucking depressed he is and how he screwed this and that up bacause he was doing drugs of some sort. green day are making music about real matters but not making everyone feel sorry for them b/c of something they did! basicaly he has NO bussiness in being at kerrang! what so ever why can't smash hits or something play his so called music and let ppl who like real music listen to real music
