Kiss in the studio

Kiss bassist Gene Simmons has expressed high expectations for their new record.

"It's the first studio album in 11 years," he says.

"You can't force those things - it's in your blood. I have to say, this might be the best new record we've done since [1976's]Destroyer!"

The as-yet-untitled album will be released early next year.

Why are they even trying to make a comeback?

Kiss...why? You're about, in the words of Ian Winwood, "as relevant as a monocle" in today's world. We don't need nostalgia, we can just buy your CDs for a fiver in HMV.

Yaass, even though they are old, they are still a pretty kick ass band.

It's gonna be interesting to hear new music from them because they will have to adapt to new musical tastes and stuff... so im looking forward to this

Why should Kiss have to adapt to new musical tastes?
Somehow I can't imagine the majority of their fans wanting a Kiss album that sounds like any of the shit that Kerrang fawns over.

I am so looking forward to this new album from my all time favorite band. Of course the motivation for a new studio album is money. But so what? Personally I don't have the highest expectations. But I am pretty exited about this new album.

I don't know what has happened to metalfans nowadays. People keep whining that Kiss is "to commercial", "it's all about money" and that the original lineup is all that matters. Is KISS the only band that sells albums? Don't you understand that by makin heavy rockmusic and makin it commercial, Kiss paved a road for all bands who followed? We all owe Kiss for helping make metal a strong musical force, their image, their marketing ...And about Peter and Ace: I love those guys, like every single mmeber in the KISS family. But if you scan through the pages of all that's been written about Kiss, both interwievs and books, it's not hard to understand that Ace and Peter never had the mental health to cope with the pressure of super stardom. They are fantastic, creative legendary rock musicians. But they were and still fight with their inner demos. And by the way - i think it's f***ing great that kiss will record a new studio album. 9 songs by Paul Stanley... It's great. He gave us all the greatest Kiss-hits from Detroit rock city to God of Thunder or Black diamond. Can't wait to hear how his new material will sound. And I don't care wich f***ing lineup will play on the CD. It's a well known fact that much of the original work on the 70's albums was made with the help of studio musicians (like many other bands, and who cares....). But I never hear anyone complain about the Guitarrwork on Destroyer, Love Gun or Rock and roll over. So dear Kiss haters out there - learn to appreciate waht KISS represent for all the other bands we love in Metal history, before you call yourself metal fans.
