My Chemical Romance studio update

My Chemical Romance are currently holed up with producer Brendan O'Brien (AC/DC, Killswitch Engage, Pearl Jam) working on the as-yet-untitled follow-up to their 2006 breakthrough album, The Black Parade.

According to guitarist Ray Toro, the band's new material is "fast paced".

"Great vibe here at the studio," wrote the six stringer in his blog. "Brendan is a lot of fun to work with, and is very focused and energetic.

"Bob [Bryar, drums] is playing great, so we're continuing the fast pace. Rest of the band is playing great too. The time in rehearsals really paid off, as we're getting a good idea of what songs will sound like when the rest of tracking is done."

The album is expected to be released through Warner Bros later this year.

it's hilarious how there's always so much conflict over my chemical romance. If you don't like what they do then fair enough but why bother reading about them in the first place? I think they're alright, i'm not too fussed about them and i don't give a shit if they're 'emo' or whatever, labelling music doesn't change what it really is and how if effects you personally. They're just humans at the end of the day they're not out to piss you off they're just doing what they love doing... so if you hate them then leave them alone cos whatever sort of attention they get, the spotlight is still on them and no matter how much they are hated, they will still be loved alot and that's what really matters :) x

My only made the band in the first place to help people! The term 'emo' means nothing anyway. It is meant to stand for ''emotional'' so if a song does not make you feel some kind of emotion, then you need help!!! I can't wait for then it comes out. change, two things:

1) I used to be all "mcr! mcr! mcr!" and used to be obsessed* with them. Now i still love their music, but i'm not that one sighted guy any more. I listen to approximately 300+ bands and love a lot harder stuff (slayer, trivium, slipknot, killswitch engage etc.) but i still have space for something mellow in me; and that's not a problem at all. It is my own opinion, which i am entitled to, as it is with all of you who have commented. just don't be fags guys and go slating each other.

2) I saw someone comment about "political" music being produced by a lot of bands today....seriously! Where the hell has someone heard a song even close to the most non-political Pistols track?

MCR aren't even proper emo, they sound straight outta the 70s, always have. They got tagged emo, and all the little emo kiddywinks went for them. Emo is Jimmy Eat World, and Jimmy Eat World are amazing.

Anyway, black parade was basically Queen + the Sex Pistols. Hopefully this will be the pistols + the Clash. Love it.

MCR haven't saved a life. Anyone who feels like killing themselves and doesn't because of a pop band clearly doesn't have a life to be saved.

Everyone gets angsty when they hit puberty, some people bitch, whine and cry about it - they listen to My Chemical Romance. Some people get over it with a smile on their face because they know it isn't all that bad - they don't listen to MCR, they don't wear eyeliner and they don't like the whining, crying, assholes who think that because they're miserable everyone else should be too.

Seriously, the people who like them don't even care how many times you can say "MCR are shit", because it won't change opinion.

MCR has so much talent and creativity that the sky's the limit in terms of what they are capable of creating, and I suspect their style and approach is just going to continue to evolve over time.

The only thing we know for certain is that if they're inspired to write it, it's going to be great! Their music is innovative, intelligent, nuanced, and passionate, and if they aren't formally acknowledged for their contribution to the world of music in the long run, I'd honestly be surprised.

look i'm a fan of MCR
if you listen to the lyrics you can tell that they are writing real music not gay pop shit that you get from most music groups today
they know what it's like to be rejected and what pain is so they express it through music to all theirfans who also know what has either happened or happening to them

You know summat it gets me really really irate when i hear people talking about mcr and other bands that way and talking bout people cutting themselves.

It's great to hear MCRs album is coming along nicely. Hope it's nothing like The Black Parade though - I liked the album but it got overplayed and there first two albums was way better!

And for all the douches who are completely slagging off the band - your making yourself look like a dick because nearly all of the MCR fans I have met (including myself) are also into metal bands too so stop being so closed minded!

So good that they are bringing out a new record.
Im my opinion there best was Three Cheers, Black Parade was okay but no way nearly as great.
I've been on there site alot and I love what Ray is doing, getting all of us involved by telling us whats happening at the studio and stuff. Oh and speak up MCR fans , Drown out the Haters, you can't stop them so just ignore them. Don't give them bait. I love this band because they arn't like other bands so just , you know , respect other bands guys. You wouldn't like people slating your favourite bands

I don't really give two craps about what My Chemical Romance is - emo, rock, punk, metal, hardcore, I don't care. They have great instrumentals, awesome lyrics, and an amazing stage performance.

And someone up there talked about "emo" being a fad. They're totally right. I'm not arguing against it. Just like grunge. Sure, Pearl Jam's still around but that doesn't mean anything. It's not the current fad. And it's kinda interesting because emo is almost the new punk - these kids are just doing what they want and not caring what people say (does that sound similar to punk?). Sure, "emo"'s a little more depressing and has deeper meaning in the songs, but it's definitely along the same lines and no matter how you slice it, emo CAME from punk. All well, too bad. I still love those guys and can't wait for the album.

I may not like my chemical romance but I don't relly give a sh*t what you like, I like metal some of best friends like emo,indie some even like dance. Anyone who kick the sh*t. It is a minority of metal fans who slag off emo bands most are accepting of it and as rock fans are in a minority anyway don,t see what the point is in spliting it even further. Don't hate someone for what music they like hate someone if they annoy you. Not all emo is crap and I like some, the only reason I don't like my chemical romance is that I find Gerard Way's voice annoying. Don't hate people who don't like metal they still like rock if they like emo or even pop-rock, rock fans are a minority anyway so why make yourself into a smaller minority, Hate the chavs not for their music but beacause they are violent, iggnorant peolple who find it neccesary to attack us for our musical tastes, Metal fans get annoyed when it happens to the so don't do it to other's.

I find this most funny indeed. What makes me laugh the most is that so many arguements are over this one band... It's a band... not a religion or a political party, and they're not going to take over the world.

But to all of you pathetic, whiny Kids who say "MCR is emo and should go back to slitting wrists" you really are judgemental and I doubt you'll get far in life. Firstly: As much as I love controversy and the lulz at the people who have nothing better to do than flame a band and their fans - haters, just back off, alright? You may not like My Chem, but for crying out loud, give us a break. We don't flame your music, do we? It's immature more than anything. I myself am a HUGE fan of My Chemical Romance. (I'm also a fan of Metallica, David Bowie and Aerosmith to name just a few before anyone criticizes my "poor" taste.) Their music is an escape from the mundane for me, a doorway to a place where I can think and feel whatever the hell I want. They saved me, like they saved so many of us.
I'm really excited for their new album; and while I'm hoping for something fierce again, like Revenge or maybe Bullets, I'm sure whatever they come out with will be great, no matter what. They've always been a great band and I'm sure they always will be.
