In this week's Kerrang! magazine we joined Limp Bizkit at home in LA as they geared-up for their 2009 world tour.
In a world exclusive interview, guitarist Wes Borland and frontman Fred Durst tell K! how they buried the hatchet and have gone on to make the comeback of the decade.
Here's an extract:
Fred Durst and Wes Borland's first meeting in over three years took place last December at their manager's LA home. Speaking of how he felt during the drive there, Borland will simply say that he "knew it was gonna be easy", that he was "glad to see the guy who was gonna be glad to see me".
There were no explosions; no voices raised, no tears cried, no punches thrown. In fact, nothing any more dramatic than having a few drinks and a conversation passed. And to the pair it felt like they'd never been apart.
"I was excited when he walked in the room," Durst recalls. "We were laughing, talking, having a blast. It felt like family. Families have their disputes. We just moved forward and picked up like we never had a problem. It wasn't like a therapy session at all.
"Wes and I have a very powerful presence and both of us being that way, quite controlling... Two lions in the same cage is a bloody mess. That's why it works. There's something about it."
"We said that we were sorry about things in the past but didn't really get into specifics," says Borland. "I said that I was only going to base my feelings towards him and the band on current behaviour, not on past behaviour.
"I've eaten my words a lot when it comes to our relationship," he adds, describing being back in the LB fold as feeling "like home". "I ended up realising that I've been an ass in a lot of ways and I sort of put all the blame on [Fred] in the past.
"We have a lot of differences, but we are more alike that I would have liked to think. I'm 34 now and am finally realising that you get a lot more out of people if you're willing to give. I wasn't ready to compromise before."
How many meetings did it take before you officially re-joined the band?
Without hesitation, Borland answers as boldly and confidently as a witness giving evidence in court: "I was in from that first meeting."
