Green Day have been awarded gold discs for their latest album 21st Century Breakdown. The album has shifted 600,000 copies in the US.
The band’s previous album, 2004’s American Idiot, sold 12 million copies worldwide.

Well congrats.
But it's kinda poorly comparing to american idiot, which is a shame because to me this album seems just as good.
However, it's only been out for not even two months (?) and it's only US, too.
That's kind of ironic as well, because the shows are sold out - and yes I'm gonna see them myself in just 109 days!

I love 21st Century Breakdown, but I'm not sure that it's quite as good as American Idiot, but it's still amazing. The new album hasn't really been out for that long, and I'm sure it will sell alot more. Can't wait to go and see them in October, it's going to be amazing XD. xxx

I'm glad they have sold loads of copies, but American Idiot was so much better, thrashy and in your face.
21 st Century Breakdown is slower, but still good. Hope they win best album at K! Awards :)

Get of your high horses you pair of prats, in a relatively short space of time this album has sold very well.
Now when you consider exactly how bad the album is and that its mainly going to appeal to the younger fans whove only been on board for the last couple of albums then its not so bad.

Subeh, you make a good point, but fal down at "how bad this album is". Musically, and technically, it is by far Green Days best. American Idiot wasn't all that.
You forget that Dookie appealed mostly to bored 14 year olds. American Idiot at 16 year olds.
Age has nothing to do with musical taste. At all. It is moronic to think it does. But 21stCB is one of Green Days best albums. I don't personally think so, but objectively it is undenyable.

i thought american idiot was a good album but shite by Green Days standards.
personally, i thought they were much better 15 years ago when they were doing stuff like dookie, nimrod, warning and kerplunk :'(
