Innerpartysystem report from Warped Tour

Pennsylvanian dance-rock foursome Innerpartysystem are currently on Warped Tour. Here, drummer Jared Piccone checks in from the road in the second in a series of weekly updates...

"After finishing up day 6 of Warped Tour in 103 degree heat in Houston Texas, the excitement of a late bus-call is tangible among the touring party. The blackjack table gets set up, small games of frisbee break out, the smell of grilled meat permeates the air, and a majority of the techs and bands circle around a small picnic table to commence in a rather large, $20 a roll game of C-low [a dice game].

"Now that everyone is acquainted, it's safe to say the hang is in full-swing. It's almost overwhelming, I don't know whether to join Bayside for a game of Cornhole [a bean bag throwing game, Google it], roll dice and lose all my food money with Hit The Lights, or just sit and drink beers with Saosin.

"Somewhere in all of this we did play a few shows, drag our equipment across massive unused football fields of dust, and sweated our asses off trying to peddle merch to the slew of little girls standing in a two hour line to get an autograph from 3OH!3.

"When I first found out we were playing Warped Tour, I would ask bands how it was. The general consensus was that it's a lot like going away to summer camp when you were a kid. This has definitely held true thus far. You have so much fun you forget to call home and check in with your parents, you get sun burnt as hell staying outside playing pickup games of kickball, and everyone drops everything as soon as dinner is ready. The only big difference between Warped Tour now and summer camp as a child, is the lack of awkwardness everyone shows when talking about jerking off in their bunk."

More from Jared on Friday. The band are currently offering a free summer mixtape MP3. For more details, log on to their official site.

You guys did an amazing set in Cleveland. My friend who heard only Don't Stop before hearing your perform was incredibly impressed. He even suggested you guys should have played on the main stage. Yet in way I agreed with him but I also thought differently. I thought your little stage tucked in near the entrance was hell of a lot more what I have slowly come to expect for Innerpartysystem. A great band that doesn't get the publicity that other bands do. Yet you guys don't want it. That deserves hell of a lot more respect then almost anything else out there. I tip my hat to you all if you guys actually read this.

Last for generations
That would be fucking epic.

7/19/2009 - what a great show! I had last seen you at night a while back, with your light show, etc and a great part of your performance was the visual..the effect you created with the lighting and all, it was very impressive. I wondered if you would do well in the afternoon, no lighting at all, bare bones out there in the parking lot on a temporary Ernie Ball Stage just down from the $3 slices of Domino's Pizza, Fruit Smoothies and Veggie Wraps. You guys put the music out there full force, your confidence and command of the stage and your audience left me looking for nothing at all. You connected to everyone with an aggressive assault. You are a tightwoven team of accomplished musicians and one of the most unique acts in the Warped Tour lineup. Nobody sounds like you. Best of luck - I hope to see you again soon!
