Kerrang! The Album '09 is here!

Kerrang! The Album '09 will be released through Rhino on August 3.

A monstrous 42 track, double CD collection, the album features K! legends such as Green Day, Marilyn Manson and Slipknot, key tracks from some of 2009's finest releases and the cream of the UK's emerging talent.

"Kerrang! has changed the lives of three generations of rock fans across the globe," says K! Editor Paul Brannigan "but we're not about to wallow in nostalgia. We believe that our world has never been more alive and we hope you'll find your new favourite band on this year's state-of-the-nation address."

Kerrang! The Album '09 is available from all good record shops and online retailers including Play.com (for £8.95), Amazon (for £8.98), HMV.com (for £8.99) and the iTunes store (for £9.99).

this is an alright album, i agree better than last year but aside from a few gems it's a bit popish

Funny how clear it is that CD1 is the softer emo music, whereas CD2 is the heavier metal stuff. Cool though, something for everyone like!

this album looks awesome. i think both cds look really good and i like the way that cd 1 is a bit pop punky and cd 2 is heavier. cant wait to get my hands on it.

Great album... And it's good that no metalheads can complain to much cause of the second album! Best Kerrang! album since 2006...
I do wonder why Misery Business is on it and not Decode or I Caught Myself? As many people might not have wanted to get the Twilight OSD, and could have got the track off this.. Oh well... Still a great bunch of songs!
And New Found Glory are on it WOOOOOO! X

Bit of a fail - what about some of the bands that have reformed over the past couple of years like Faith No More and Carcass.

Also, you fail big time by not having more British bands on the CD like Paradise Lost and Therapy?

I won't be buying it - but at least it will keep the teenage pop music fans happy with Metro Station and Parawhore!

There are some awesome songs on there, expecially Madina Lake, Marilyn Manson, My Chemical Romance and many more. I am a bit annoyed that Fall Out Boy isn't on there this year though, as they are jus friggin awesome! I'm defo buyin it, Kerrangs music style rocks!

The reason metro station is on here is because that song was like number one of the request charts for ages on kerrang aswell as others, people must like that song.
Pretty good album (:
Covers most of the popular genres of rock atm.
And Charlie stop being ignorant - ALOT of people like the 'sloppy relationship based' kinda bands, just accept that and dont have a go at kerrang for putting popular bands on the CD. I agree some of the bands arent to my taste, but seriously, stop band bashing. No one forces you to listen to the music, nor buy the cd. Dont like it - dont listen.

I find it funny how people complain about Metro Station not being rock or metal, when The Prodigy clearly are not rock or metal. Also, Cobra Starship are pretty much pop. I love the Prodigy, Metro Station, and Cobra Starship but why the hell do Kerrang cover these different genres of music? Oh yeah, *slaps wrists*, probably because Kerrang has turned into a magazine that follows bands that the emo kids listen to, not actually covering the genre they say they do.

kerrang seem to be going more mainstream with some stuff though, for example kerrang radio is practically turning into NME with some fo the stuff they play on it nowadays, which kinda sucks.

i agree that metro station shudnt be on here, altho as for the prodigy theyve got more of a "Punk vibe" to some of their songs than metro station would ever have.

They call themselves a Best Selling ROCK Magazine, not Metal.
Cobra Starship fall under the genre of "dance rock"[apparently], so they deserve to be on there. I'm happy for them anyways.

Kerrang! is a magazine for ALTERNATIVE music, not just metal. If they want to put those bands on there, let them.

This is why Kerrang is now a shit magazine...
The two bands that Kerrang are really about both have had albums out in the last year: Metallica and AC/DC yet neither feature on here. All this is now is crappy shit like 'punk' of Green Day and over played pop like Metro Station and Nickleback. Kerrang has betrayed the fans it once stuck it's neck out to get them a Magazine with all the bands in that they liked and were shunned by popular culture. Paul Brannigan has killed this magazine that i read from early 1990's up until they put My Chemical Romance on the cover for a succesion of weeks. Sad news to here the even more pop direction it has taken

Personally, i love both the disks. Bought the album the other day, and the only one i dont like is The Prodigy - Omen. Other than that, its an awesome album. Wouldnt have minded some Metallica, personally AC/DC are a bit meh. Other than that, i think they did really well with this album. (Paramore was a brilliant choice too :p )

metro station? kerrang, you slate this band practically every time they're in your magazine. so why are they on this cd? seems a bit weird to me.
also, why are cobra starship on here? do not get me wrong, i love them waaay much. but you never feature them. ever. except for maybe advertising their UK tour back in may. a ton of the bands on that cd are ones you feature ALL the time (namely slipknot), and cobra are never in k!.

p.s - stop bumming off josh franceschi. i love YMA6 but i see his face in almost every issue of kerrang. he's starting to annoy me.

It's a very good album if you don't include Know Your Enemy, If Today Was Your Last Day and Save It For The Bedroom and really... I'm awake at night questioning Metro Stations very existance let alone the fact that they're considered a rock band. Don't bother saying "it's Pop Rock" because it's really not and you're lying to yourself. There's no trace of Rock at all in Shake It which could possibly be one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

Apart from that though, good album lol.

Nobody is saying there is anything wrong with Metro Station or Paramore. I actually like Paramore but what people are saying is that the genre of these bands (mostly Metro Station) isn't the kind of music that they wanted or expected on this album. I'd say that you can't blame them but really after last years album I really don't see how nobody saw this coming... not that this years one is as bad for mainstream pop music.

OK it's been a few years since Iv even listened to KERANG moved around alot and shit has changed Im liking alot of that album but I hate Cobra Starship the one you keep playing on KERRANG sounds more like Hip HOP/DJ it's where there in the club and get arrested though trying to find more than 1 song of there's KERRANG seems to have too many diffrent types of music inside it guess you gots take the good with the bad
