and the best album in the world has to be HIM deep shadows and brilliant highlights released 2001
it is just so melodic and dark yet uplifting at the same time i love this album so much its what got me into the gothic side of music please kerrang pick this album noone can beat villes seductive and sexy voice

2. Vol.3 The Subliminal Verses- Slipknot, Making me pick out of the 3 released this century was impossible, but who can resist Before I Forget?

1. City Of Evil- Avenged Sevenfold, Originally, I was going to pick 3 of the 4 A7x albums but then thought that to be a bit over the top. So I picked this one at random. They are amazing, so talented and diverse and this album is a perfect example of what they are capable of.

Yeah Metal Hammer is a sic magazine, but half the people who are on this site would vote for MCR, Paramore YM@6 and so on because thats what Kerrang mainly covers! I do prefer Hammer (and Terrorizer) coz I prefer the heaiver stuff and yes when Hammer get round to doing this I will agree wil ALOT more of thier choices...BUT FOR DAMN SAKE don't insult Kerrang, half the time they may be more of a gossip mag but if you don't like it don't buy it - don't read it and don't visit this site to insult it, the bands in it and the people who read it!

Green Day - American Idiot (2004).. Unbeatable story line and music and full of attitude..can easily appeal to anyone.

Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown (2009).. Another..unbelievable album..epic stadium playable anthems (21 Guns, ?Viva la Gloria?(Little Girl))

The Used - Lies For the Liars - Words Cant't describe this album. Punk At Its Best.

Hardly anyone has mentioned HYBRID THEORY by LINKIN PARK, the best selling album of the century? When it comes to rock album of the decade there is just nothing that can possibly beat it, it revolutionised music and is the inspiration behind much of the albums stated above. I suppose alot of the people on here are too young to remember when it came out, that's the only reason I can think.

I would say:

3. Evanescence - Fallen (2003) - because this album was my introduction to rock / metal and made me fall in love with the genre and brek-up with rap / pop.

2. Celldweller - Celldweller (2003) - Amazing genre bending semi-industrial hard hitter, its perfect and just sounds like it would be the ideal soundtrack for any movie.

1. Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero (2007) -Just for the groundbreaking advertising methods, flawless blend of rock, metal and electonics and the deep running storyline which makes this nhilistic Rock Opera make Green Day's American Idiot and 21st Centuary Breakdown look like a tacky and cheap attempt at a Rock-Opera.
An absolutly astounding and vital album, it just did so many things at once it was as much a political-art masterpiece as it was an album.

Firstly, whats with so many people putting 30stm? tbh its not that great, sure From yesterday, Attack & The Kill are good.. but thats why they released them, the earlier self-titles album is better.
and for my top ones.. err, i have a varying taste, but i'd say (in no particular order):

The Used - The Used (2001/02)
Easily the best Used release, it's raw & emotional, yet hard hitting at the same time, perfect.

Underoath - They're only chasing safety (2004?)
Again, their best release. A well balanced, quite touching album.

From Autumn to ashes - The fiction we live (2003)
Quite possibly one of the greatest albums ever, mixing passionate screams with extremely touching, heart felt, and fucking clever lyrics.. I challenge anyone to sit and listen to this in full, and honestly say they dislike it! It's beautiful yet brutal.

The Bled - Pass the flask (2003)
Metalcore/ Screamo? whatever it is, they do it well. Clever vocals, and some of the best breakdowns around.

Afi - Sing the sorrow
You either love davey havok, or you hate him, but you cant critacize(although, people do..) his music making skills.. the band is decent enough, but this album is up & down, in your face, then resting in your heart. guess its punk(but not as much as their earlier stuff) with a side of emotive to finish it off, good stuff.


ANYWAY, as much as im so sure thats the best, i'll probably have so many metal heads/ kids/ and whatever disagreing with me, but for christ sake.. listen to it before you decide to claim you know otherwise?

1) Lostprophets - Liberation Transmission
Many people think that it's the worst LPS album by far but I think it's not, 'cause only on LT we can see the real Lostprophets, it's filled with a mix of unique sound and strong lyrics and it is very grown up. Probably, the best album I've ever heard in my life.
2) Bullet For My Valentine - The Poison
Well, it's just genre classics. Not the best lyrics really, but agressive riffs and memorable songs made this album #2 in my list.
3) My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers For a Sweet Revenge
Album that can make you cry, laugh, headbanging and sometimes everything at the same time. Shame they failed so much with the follower (The Black Parade)

3) Fall Out Boy - From Under The Cork Tree

Because, lyrically, it's the most honest album I've listened to. It's simple and catchy and there isn't much more you need from a pop-rock album. Perhaps two songs that aren't up to the same standard of the rest of the album and you can't really complain with that.

2) Coheed & Cambria - Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV: Volume I: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness

This album opened my eyes to other bands, more technical groups and less conventional than the standard rock. I fell in love with this album on first listen, and despite it's long running time never EVER seems to get old. It's no wonder people started taking more notice of Coheed after this album, not a single song below brilliant.

1) Green Day - American Idiot

Without Green Day, without American Idiot, I would not be posting on this site and would still be listening exclusively to cheesy pop or rap. The venom in the lyrics, the storyline, the production, the beautiful simplicity of it - this album is perfect in my eyes. Obviously not to everyone's taste, but somehow, it just completely changed me and is the reason I learned to play guitar. There's just something commanding and accessible about how the simple riffs and chords connect the whole album, and the constantly-changing songs must be so much fun to play live to a huge audience. I can only imagine.

normally i dont like hyped up albums, there ussually not all there cracked up to be. and even though it just came out about a month ago, if uve heard you know its an instant classic. most of green day's stuff is is a bit under par to me, but this is just over all an amazing album.

1/Misery Signals - Controller : This album is so good, that i've even tried getting tired of it. its impossible. if only all metalcore was as intelligent, atmospheric and mind-blowing as this. The amazing soundscapes produced by Ryan and Stu, accompanied by the pounding drums of Brandon, with the infectious basslines driven by Kyle, and topped with passionate lyrics clearly screamed by Karl makes this an album you'll never forget

three cheers for sweet revenge -my chemical romance-nothing beats this album old school my chem is badass

meteora-linkin park-i like their sound on this album best i only started listening to them for about three months but they are my second fave band after MCR.

the black parade-my chemical romance-the album where we all woke up and smelt the coffee this band was FANTASTIC.Though some people dont like coffee.
i wish could vote for more all four slipknot would be next.
then panic(!) at the disco
then papa roach and green day.

1) Green Day: 21st century breakdown

cos the lay out sorta thingy is great. i love the way all the songs are different, but they all flow nicely into ech other. and the song of the century and american eulogy are like an intro and outro to it, which is really well thought of.

2)Madina Lake: from them, through us, to you.

at least i think this one is from the past 9 years... oh well. i just really like it =D

3) Fall Out Boy: folie a deux

i like the name of the album when you translate it (the madness of two). the songs are really easy to sing as well =]

3. Steel Panther - Feel The Steel.
It's a quirky album, cheesy and funny as fuck. You love them or you hate them, it makes you laugh. Catchy, sticks in your head for days and although funny they are all very talented.

2. CKY - Carver City.
They came back after An Answer Can Be Found and this is one hell of a record. I don't like it when people just think of them as "that Jackass band" or think Bam is in the band. This record really is fucking awesome. A#1 Roller Rager and Hellion's on Parade are my favourite songs.

1. CKY - Infiltrate Destroy Rebuild.
This is my FAVOURITE fucking album. I like Volume 1 better but that was in 1999. So this has to be put in. It's a unique album proving that CKY are unlike ANY band out there. Some fucking awesome tracks on here, start to finish is perfect. CKY could be selling out larger concerts and gigs if they wanted but clubs are suited better for them and you really have to see them live to get the full CKY effect. Fucking amazing.

Blink 182- Blink 182 (2003)
Enter Shikari- Take to the skies (2007)
Youmeatsix- Take off your colours (2008)

all three of the bands are great, especially blink 182. Both Shikari's and YM@6's albums were especially good seeing as they were there debut albums.
Blink 182's 2003 release showed that they've started to mature, releasing their best work to date, something which i hope continues when they release new material next year

1. Mastodon - Leviathan (2004)

One of my favourite album, i think its perfect. Everything flows so well, the music and lyrics and the overal concept. Blending everything good about Mastodon perfectly.

2. The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute (2005)

Basically just a 5 song album, but its incredibly progressive, and just incredible. Again another concept album, with hints of the concept and story hidden behind fantastic lyrics and metaphors from Cedric. Things like the drums, and bass i even get in my head, as catchy and impressive as the guitar riffs and vocals. Cassandra Gemmini remains i think the most impressive song ever put to tape.

3. Taint - The Ruin Of Nova Roma (2005)

I know this will never make it, but i dont care, its one of my favourite albums. Blending almost every type of music, it makes a beautifal loud noise. The modern edged, sludgy riffs moulded around hidden melody here and there, works perfectly, along with great lyrics and contrasting vocals.

1. Take Off Your Pants And Jacket-Blink 182.

I remember hearing What's My Age Again? on the radio when I was about seven, but it wasn't until P+J came out that I really liked Blink. My favourite album by them.

2. Folie A Deux-Fall Out Boy.

It's gotten a lot of criticism from Kerrang! but this album has a lot of sentimental value for me. (Coffee's For Closers) and 27 will always get me.

3. The Sufferer and the Witness-Rise Against.

Behind Closed Doors was the song to get me into Rise Against. I adore it, and this album is pretty amazing for me.

Oh, and before people start saying that [artist] is much better than those that I've picked, Kerrang! actually asked us for our favourite albums, not those we think of as the best.

What a hard choice....

In no particular order:

Alexisonfire - Watch Out
Dallas Green's awesome vocals makes this a masterpiece for me, No Trasitory and Happiness are 2 of my all time fav songs.

Oceansize - Effloresce
Stunning debut that proves that Manchester can produce good bands and not just crappy Oasis clones, and the mightly shit Oasis.

InMe - Daydream Ananymous
Dave McPherson and the boys have grown up so much since Overgrown Eden's songs about death etc, and DA just proves it. I've followed this band since the begginning and feel this album shows the maturity and overwhelming power of the bands talent. Cant wait for Herald Moth in August.

And a moan to finish it off....as if any of these albums will make it into the chart. Its going to be full Emo gash like MCR and (praying on knees for it not to appear) Metro Station.
I just hope proper bands like Lamb of God, Metallica, Killswitch and my picks all get in.

1. Mars Volta "Bedlam In Goliath" (2008)- my favourite album of all time, epic, face melting music, is simply incredible

2. Muse- "Origin Of Symmetry" (2001) again huge sound, avoided the curse of the second album. Simply incredible and the start of the best band in the world, after shobiz which was fairly crap

3. In Case Of Fire- "Align The Planets"(2009) a brilliant debut and the album of the 2009 already! huge beutiful sound, fantastic vocals and epic riffs!

How can I forget this album?!?!?!
I remember listening to this on the way to work and wanting to punch someone in the throat. Trully aggressive and progressive in the same way. Halo is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard. Awesomeness in the most awesome way. Rock on bitches.

But Slipknot definitely tops everything every time....no need to say who my favourite band is...^_^

Still...them being my favourite has nothing to do with it. I think Slipknot have just come so far that they deserve this. Theyve improved with every album since they started this ten years ago, and they just keep getting better.
