Cradle guitarist injured on stage at Bloodstock

British black metallers Cradle Of Filth were forced to cut their performance at this weekend's Bloodstock festival short after guitarist Paul Allender was injured by a projectile thrown by a member of the audience.

The band were playing the main stage on Saturday (August 15) when the incident occurred. Allender was treated in hospital later that evening for undisclosed injuries.

"One selfish ticketholder soured an amazing day and a stunning performance by the closing headliners," said the festival's organisers in an official statement. "We're hoping that the rest of the fans in attendance will enjoy the rest of the weekend with the camaraderie and unity that has made Bloodstock Open Air the great festival it is."

All ready reported by MetalHammer over the weekend. KEEP UP KERRANG! The object thrown was apparently a gob stopper as large as a cricket ball.

im sure the silence after they left the stage was nicer than any single one of their songs anyways...someone did them a favour.

Instead of throwing shit they should have done what we did and leave. We could only last 2 songs before the pain was too great!! We went to the ber tent much better option

I hate people like that. Even if they don't like them, someone in the crowd does. Just let them play, or go somewhere else. It's not going to hurt you. It's just sad, to be honest.

I your face, metalheads.

It would be awesome if it was some 14 year old emo chick that did it as revenge for the guy from Panic at the Disco being bottled.

I think what Dr. Hero is saying is that metal heads have been attacking emo bands on stage at most festivals and now a metal band has been attacked as a bit of revenge, what goes around comes around and all that.

But still; if you don't like a band don't bother going and ruining everybody else's fun.

Exactly. It was pissing hilarious for metalheads when things like this happened at Reading and Leeds to emo bands, and now that it's happened to one of their own, they're all up in arms.

I don't condone it, but I do appreciate sweet, sweet karma.

It's about time that EVERYONE stopped this shit. It's fucking up people's fun and people are getting hurt.

If you MUST throw things at bands, at least throw nice, soft jobbies.

How stupid do you have to be to not be able to spell message?

I didn't diss the band at all, I'm sure they're very good at what they do. But, Kerrang is a pop magazine and you know it.

I dig karma, and this is karma at its finest.

I didn't say people *should* do it, I'm just saying that since this *has* happened, it would be fitting if it was a revenge attack by an emo kid.

People shouldn't do it, but if they're going to, I'd suggest that if your solution is brought into practice, then they should probably pick on Elliot Minor - I doubt they could handle themselves in a scrap - I'd fancy my chances.

I think it is totally disgusting anyone would throw things at a band they don't like. We should respect all artists (yes even Limp bizkit unfortunatley) even if we dont like their music for creating something which thier fans love.
And, as people in the same boat as those who love the bands we hate, we should respect them and thier musical taste as fellow fans even if we like different music (okay maybe metro station fans are an exeption XD).

This means: DONT FUCKING BOTTLE PEOPLE TRYING TO BRING PEOPLE A GOOD TIME AND DO THIER BLOODY JOB!

Just leave fi you think its that bad.

I vote we bring back the days where we threw bras (or in the odd case boxers if your a dude) at the band, that way you get to throw shit and no one gets hurt.

I totally agree with Stephen Walker, we should all throw bras instead of bottles. And yes, Metro Station fans should be an exception, because let's face it, they shouldn't even be in K! in the first place. Hope Paul was ok. I'm gutted I couldn't go.

I must respectfully disagree with my learned colleague's diagnosis. Anyone knows that any emo kid would rightfully have been crucified upside down before getting withing half a mile of said venue.

I propose that the gobstopper was thrown by Varg Vikernes, in protest at how Cradle of Shit are still being linked with black metal.

Died earlier this Morning, Sadly there was no 24 Hour long run of Cradle's music videos, Damn you Teleshopping!!

Pfft. It takes a well respected band getting bottled to make people realise throwing things are people isn't nice, no one gave a shit when Panic and other 'emo' bands were getting bottled. And Stephen and L, WTF how can you agree that bottling anyone is bad and then make an exception?! That’s the point, whoever threw the whatever at was at Paul probably feels exactly the same way towards COF as you do towards Metro Station, Try being less hypocritical.

I think I was 1 of the oldet metal heads at Bloodstock and unfortunately for me I am wheelchir bound but there was a great viewing platfom for dissabled. Way too many can's cups and plastic glasses were thrown and I saw what happend with Cradle of Filth. If you don't like a band sod of to the bar or either of the other 2 stages. The cricket ball gob stoppers hould be band cos only a horse or an ass can fit it in thier gob. Who threw it is a bloodt ass hole. Brill fest though.
