Smashing Pumpkins begin work on free 44-song album

Smashing Pumpkins have started work on their new album, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope. Frontman Billy Corgan has revealed that the 44-song follow-up to 2007's Zeitgeist will be absolutely free.

"My desire is to release a song at a time beginning around Hallowe'en of this year, with each new release coming shortly after until all 44 are out," says Billy. "Each song will be made available absolutely for free, to anyone, anywhere. There will be no strings attached."

The recordings will mark the debut of 19-year-old drummer Mike Byrne. Original drummer Jimmy Chamberlain quit in March.

Sounds interesting, Smashing Pumpkins is now just Corgan's solo band now though with the departure of Jimmy Chamberlin just like Guns is Axl Rose's solo band.
Although I'm one of the few people it seems enjoyed Chinese Democrazy so I'll wait and see.

Hardly a normal album is it though?
And I doubt that very much.

good on him! he's made a mint and now he's giving something back for free! maybe a few of the tracks will be corkers, lets see.. i always thought it was ironic my unknown band was giving away free mps 10 years back (300000 downloads, and it got us some fans) when all the big bands charged.

death to the record industry, they always sucked!!!

now, how do we get radio stations to die also?? because theyre crp too. even our 'alternative' stations in australia play the same old shit these days.
