Slayer postpone UK tour

Slayer have announced that they must postpone their UK tour which was due to kick off on November 18 in Nottingham. The tour will now take place in March and April next year.

Frontman Tom Araya recently underwent surgery on his back and will not be well in time for next week's shows.

"Right now, our main concern must be the full and permanent recovery of Tom," says Slayer manager Rick Sales. "We have decided to clear the calendar and give him the extra time he needs to concentrate solely on good health."

The band will now play:

March 2010
07 Manchester Academy
08 London HMV Forum
09 London HMV Forum

April 2010
02 Nottingham Rock City
03 Glasgow Barrowland
04 Leeds Academy
05 Birmingham Academy

All tickets for the original shows are still valid.

Might be lame but wouldn't you rather Tom was 100% fit then go out there and be in agony and play an adequate show? I know what I'd rather.
March 8th, roll on

look i agree with micheal . bottom line tickets i belive where 35-40 pound wud u pay that amount and have half a show . i know i wud not wen i see a band i like to get my moneys worth . plus the guy is not in 20 hes 40 or 50 sum thing so he will take a lil while longer to recover from back surgery . just think wen slayer do play it will be better .becuase they wanna make up 4 this

yeah i know that sucks but that's what he needs. cuz if he doesn't give himself enough time to heal & he were to go back to touring 2 soon, he won't be at his best & might even reinjure himself or need more surgery. So I think it's 4 the best, even if it does mean you'll have 2 wait longer. Get well soon Tom!

original tickets should still be valid for the gig, if not you should be told how and where to change your ticket

This is a damn shame. At his age he might not make it through the Winter and I think Slayer fans would rather see him on stage with a sore back than not see him at all!
