As 2009 draws to a close, all thoughts turn to what the next year has in store. And perhaps more importantly, who will be hitting the 2010 festival circuit.
With both the Sonisphere festival and Iron Maiden set to make “a special announcement” tomorrow at 6PM, could this mean the British heavy metal legends are going to headline Sonisphere?
Kerrang! Dot Com spoke to festival director Stuart Galbraith, but as expected, he remained tight-lipped:
“I can’t say too much now, save for Sonisphere Knebworth in 2010 is definitely happening, and that we will be making a big announcement at 6pm tomorrow, and also some other European announcements this week,” he told us. “In 26 years of working in live music, Sonisphere has been one of the most successful events I have ever worked on. All the festivals were incredible and the feedback we’ve had has been hugely positive. Starting Europe’s only travelling festival was an extremely bold/crazy move, but one that has paid off immensely, with over 300,000 attending across six countries, and we’re looking forward to expanding this in 2010.”
According to Virtual Festivals, Sonisphere will take place at Knebworth on July 31 and August 1 2010.
Other bands rumoured to be headlining Sonisphere include AC/DC, Aerosmith, Foo Fighters, a reformed System Of A Down, Rage Against The Machine and Rammstein.
Who would you like to see at Sonisphere?
