Rage Against The Machine slip from the top of the charts

Following the much publicised campaign earlier this month to get Rage Against The Machine’s 1992 hit, Killing In The Name, to the top of the British singles chart at Christmas, one week on and the band have been knocked off the top spot by X Factor winner Joe McElderry.

McElderry’s cover of Miley Cyrus’ The Climb, sold approximately 130,000 more copies than Killing In The Name last week.

You knew it was going to happen simply because it was backed as a Christmas Number 1 campaign and not a Xmas and New Year Number 1 campaign. But still it was nice that something different was Xmas Number 1 but for next year, lets try and get Rammstein's Du Hast to New Year Number 1.

Its all ridiculous to me....people didnt like the feeling of being told to download the winners single by simon cowell or the x factor producers so instead they listned to the people that were telling them to download the rage song. Rage were a band that was against all this commercial crap and everybody that downloaded their single for xmas no. 1 is just turning them into another typical commercial band. And either way Cowell is benfitting because part of the money from the rage downloads will go to sony music company and Cowell owns part of sony.

at the end of the day, he didnt get christmas number one. new years is just an excuse to get smashed, so no one gives a fuck about number one after christmas. rage won. end of.

It doesn't matter, at least he didn't get number one at Christmas!

However, it seems that noone in the group to buy Anarchy In The UK to prevent Joe getting a number one actually bought the single :(.
