In this week’s Kerrang! magazine HIM frontman Ville Valo gives us a personal insight into the making of his band’s new album, Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice, the break-up of his last relationship and why he’s “such a moody person.”

While K! scribe Tom Bryant has done a sterling job of probing the Double V, we’re sure you’ll agree that there’s nothing like a good grilling from you lot – the fans.

Your heartagram logo is one of the most distinctive band logos out there and has led to your merchandise being very popular. How did the logo come about and would you say it was one of the best (or luckiest!) developments in the career of your band?

The Last time i went to your gig was About 3 years ago at the Astoria in London, December... Infact i didnt get to see you at all! I got kicked out of the gig, Shamefully i went for a piss some where i shouldnt of after drinking way too much alcohol haha. But that piss nearly got me arrested that night as i tried my hardest t get back into the Venue, But the bouncers/security wasnt havent it! What can i say... Your my fav band and i was trying everything to get back in the venue, i even took my exstensions out and rubbed my make up off (wich i never do) to enter the venue as a different person! Still didnt work. So i cant wait to see you guys in March!... I want to ask you, what is the funniest thing you have done at a gig or a gig of your own? xxx

Why have they mellowed out to the point of losing the band's unique & distinctive sound?

Just wanted to ask you were such a rad person in person! u treated me like a person not a fan,my question is why did you cancel the show 10/06 @ the last minute 2 record?
It really bummed me out it was a BDay present 1 and 2 I was pregnant and so willing 2 go though a set 4 HIM while 7 mths preggers! yea when I got beat up I was already pregnant scary huh I didn't know it, we both survived it though thx anyways hope this gets 2 ya I just always wondered why u guys did that?

Hey Ville!

I have been listening to you guys for 7 years now and one thing that is clear is that their are five very talented individuals in the band. So I was wondering do you ever get frustrated that many people believe HIM is you as a solo act, and that Linde, Mige, Burton and Gas and their talents go largely unnoticed?

Hello, there are soany of is on Australia that would absolutly kill to see you, I am one. Apart fron Soundwave 2010 in Brisbane can you/would you/will you ever play again in Queensland? I've tried my hardest to go to the Soundwave but my parents just won't let me. And my only dream/wish is to see you perform live. In your song called Death's In Love With Us there is a line that goes:
"41 plus 66.6 equals our loss". Is that a reference to they theory that says when the population of the earth is 41 billion, Satan can return. 666 is the devils number so, 41 (billion) + 66.6? :)

I became a fan of your music back in 03 or 04, at one of the worst points in my life. I was a 19 yr old alcoholic, with nothing much to look forward too, no friends, ext.., I was on a serious path to self destruction, when I heard one of your songs. The lyrics in the song conveyed exactly how I felt at that moment, and I decided to make a change. Over the years ive remained a huge fan of your music, it has brought me so much happines, and ive made lasting friendships with other fans that I wouldnt trade for the world. I even met my fiancee, because he played your music on his radio station haha. Your music really has changed my life, for the better, and anytime im feeling down I just put on one of your cds. I felt that I should share that with you, and ask, do you ever feel like your making changes in your own life and growig as a person when your writing a song?

-your a musical snob because you enquire if Him will ever write a good album as if you can't believe how anyone would like them, if your a real music fan and not a musical snob, you'll appreciate and accept that if this band have sold a large amount of albums then they may actually be doing something right that some other people with different opinions from you (yes, they do exist!) really enjoy.
-Following up from Haylee's comment, if you think K! sucks so much dick then what the fuck are you doing going on to this site in the first place? Let alone clicking on a story about a band you clearly have nothing remotely nice to say about? Kerrang is a alternative rock magazine that covers the whole rock spectrum, from emo to punk to rock 'n roll to metal and all the sub genres and can't always cover all those and make favouritists like you happy. If your just into metal then go to your precious metal hammer (which I also like btw) and stop fucking crying about a site that you quite clearly don't like despite the fact that you go to the site anyway.
