The Rev’s family issue statement

The family of Avenged Sevenfold drummer Jimmy 'The Rev' Sullivan issued an official statement following his untimely death on December 28.

It reads as follows:

"We would like to thank all of Jimmy’s fans for the heartfelt comments that have been posted – it is comforting to know that his genius and antics were appreciated and that he was loved so much. Our hearts are broken – he was much too young to fall.

“Barbara and Joe, Kelly and Katie and the extended Sullivan family”

As we reported yesterday, the preliminary investigation into Sullivan's death has proved inconclusive and the Orange County coroner’s office has ordered more tests.

Im truely gutted this has happend! iv always been such a big fan of the band, but more so a really big Rev fan! although i did never get the chance to meet him, I would just like to say that im glad i got to see him at his last ever show in the Uk at ''Sonisphere'' festival that will be a memory i will hold forever!

Gutted i loved him so much, he was an inspiration to me and many others. Im gutted that i never got to meet him and say thanks. I will never get to see them play now as it wont be the same with out you Jimmy.

I just hope you have found your little piece of heaven. We will always carry your amazing talent in our hearts.

I'm so happy i got to see him at Sonisphere too
Avenged are my favourite band ever and there had always been reasons why i hadn't been able to see them before. I finally got to at Sonisphere 09, front row, best gig i've ever experienced.
I'd be so gutted right now if i hadn't been.
It's sort of bittersweet that i saw Jimmy's last show though and now my favourite band will not be the same </3

That said, I do hope they carry on.

he will be missed by all people that knew decent music what really struck me is that two weeks before he got asked if he could do a drum solo as he was the only drummer alive able to do it ... he never saw that! :( i really wanted to see avenged live and was hoping theyd come over to the uk this year so i could.. but without jimmy it wouldnt be the same.. i hope they do still carry on and find a drummer that can live up to jimmys amazingg playing :) i wish his family the best as it must be so much worse for them r.i.p jimmy!
