Boys Like Girls singer assaulted in Scotland

Boys Like Girls frontman Martin Johnson was attacked following his band’s gig at Glasgow’s G2 venue this past Friday night (February 19).

While the exact details of the alleged assault are sketchy, Johnson posted a picture of his face following the attack on his Twitter with the accompanying message:

"Wanna see a motherfucker jumped? Look at this. Fuck you."

He then followed it up with a number of Tweets reassuring fans he was fine:

“To those who are obviously slow, no, my band members did not beat me up,” he wrote. "They were actually doing their best to rip people off me. I'm fine. Trying my best to smile but it hurts. Hospitals in Scotland aren't my favourite.”

I find that absolutly shocking! I live in Scotland myself, and Glasgow is one of the roughest places, but even that's pretty unexpected :/ my love goes out to martin who I hope gets better soon :) xxxx

I live in Glasgow myself and was at the BLG gig that night. Can't believe someone did that to him! That's awful, idiot's like that really give Scotland a bad name. Hope this doesn't put the band off coming back here again :/

You can see why he got jumped right? The fact that he said "Fuck you." at the end of his post clearly shows that he's way too sure of himself. Maybe if the guy learned some repsect and wasn't so cocky this wouldn't have happened.

It was the security at the venue that assaulted him. I've asked numerous people who were there and they all tell the same story - Martin came out the back to speak to the police, covered in blood, and explained it seemed to be over zealous security guards who attacked him. Apparently it was all caught on CCTV too.

I love Scotland, I live there, and yeah it can be rough, but I don't even think that has anything to do with it. Sounds like it was security at the venue being pricks.

He absolutely deserved it, did you hear what he was doing to the girls from ages 16-18. he was telling them to go to the tour bus to do sexual things then assaulted them when they refused, he deserves what he got for being a pervert

shame what happened, i'm a BLG fan but i'm not entirely surprised. Hopefully they won't be put off coming back to Glasgow and hire a different venue to play at instead of The Gayrage all the time

A) I live in Glasgow and not everyone there is scum its just like edinburgh dundee etc you get a few places that are rough just like anywhere in the uk!

I also unfortunately went to that gig. Martin is soo rude, it truly is inevtiably he got jumped. The whole night he paraded about the place like he fucking owned it. It truly is an absolute disgrace that he was 'jumped'; however by his attitude on friday night, he clearly had it coming. This should be a wake up call for him, he needs to learn some manners and stop going about like a fucking king. He needs to get down off his high horse and find reality.

So Martin attacked a punter in a nightclub, he then attacked a female steward (he punched her in the head and she has claw marks across her chest and neck). When restrained to the ground he smashed his face open, proceeding to later photograph it and lie to his fans that he was jumped.

It begs the question, who is the real scum in this scenario?

I live in Glasgow and i do hold my hands up and agree it can be rough but it is usually only a very small number of idiots who do this and tarnish the half decent people in Scotland. Violence happens all over the world - not just scotland!

Reading some fo the comments made re this people automatically say "stupid scottish shits" etc etc, just because one twat doesnt know anger management doesnt mean you can label the rest of us.

hope he's ok and hopefully doesnt cloud his opinion of his scottish fans and hopefully narrowminded people dont automatically class scottish people as violent. its a STEREOTYPE thanks to some stupid idiot who decided to tarnish the scottish name!
