Charlie Simpson: "I have no interest re-joining Busted"

Reports in today’s tabloids allege that Fightstar frontman Charlie Simpson is quitting the cult British rock outfit to reform Busted, the boyband that kick started his career.

As you’d expect, the rumour is categorically not true.

"Fightstar have been together for six years now and we have made three albums that we are all extremely proud of,” Simpson told Kerrang! “We are now in a more creative place than ever before and there is absolutely no sign of it slowing down. We have a very dedicated fan base that has been with us from the start and no doubt will be with us for a very long time.

“I wish Matt and James all the best with their future projects but I want to make it unequivocally clear that I have no interest what-so-ever in re-joining Busted and I never will,” he added. “I am at a point in my life were I am content and happy and I wouldn’t change it for the world."

it is expected of him to say that even though busted were better. Fightstar are absolutley dire. and this is coming from someone who listens to bands like metallica, rammstein, type o negative and aerosmith not from some sad 12 year old who thinks there hard by listenin to busted. Busted were more popular than Fightstar will ever be. just sayin....

i actually think busted were better in their genre than fightstar ever have been in theirs. if it wasn't for busted, i probably wouldn't have even listened to fightstar.

I find it quite comical that someone would try and validate their opinion with a band by stating other artists they listen to. Especially when they say it as if the bands they listen to make them hard. Nice one son.

Fightstar are one of a kind. Brilliant live and make amazing music,

And there's a reason busted were more popular than fightstar - its in that word, you know that word, Popular - Pop - How many fightstar songs have you seen on smash hits?

Iv had the pleasure of playing 2 gigs with fightstar and meeting him many of times, hes a great guy whos worked extremley hard to establish himself in the rock world after busted!

hes blessed to be such a talented musician and i really think every1 should give him a break, cause its not easy having to read/take the abuse of critics consitantly like!

id love to just wake up 1 morning and every1 just be pulling in the same direction and if you dont wana pull in that direction then dont leave a comment....or leave a constructive 1, its sooo easy to sit behind you're computer screen and leave harsh personall insults.

TBH busted were so much better. James said that charlie cost them loads of money by leaving for a crappy band like fightstar. I was recently watching the busted 'a ticket for everyone' concert and i realised that he's the only one who actually has no talent! I wish james & matt the best but charlie needs to stop thinking abot himself. FUTUREBOY FTW!

Well im a huge fan of MCR now but growing up i LOVED busted and tbh matt can sing...Charlie sounds like a Strangled Cat... Plus busted made him, no one would even know who he was and besides if u dont like busted dont f***ing listen to them end of

Fightstar always have been and always will be a nobody in this genre he's aiming for. Busted were the best at what they did, and I loved them for it. James' lyrics for Busted are ten times better than Charlie's now. Busted FTW.

i think charlie's just trying to look cool by involving in this metal rock genre. all of a sudden he said that busted was a torture. and for that one i think he's just trying to ditch the Busted image so everyone can take him seriously. my conclusion, he's a selfish guy, can't think forward for his own action, but pretty hardworking.

Why does it matter that he's a 'nobody' in the rock/metal world? He doesn't claim to have done spectacularly well, just talks about the fans that Fightstar has and the success that they have had.
James was in a shit band that broke up, Matt was shit and went the the jungle, while Charlie has a solid fan base, 3 albums out and has been doing big tours! If anything, the other 2 need him!

That said, I can only listen to 2 of fightstar's songs.

I loved him and was obbsessed with him in Busted and I still am so i wouldnt mind what he chose.

But its his choice and if hes happy with the choice he made then im happy for him.

Which two songs Jen?

James is actually doing really well, writing songs for musicians such as the Saturdays. Even Charlie said in interviews that it is unreal how quickly James would write lyrics. He is probably a millionaire. Matt is married etc, but probably needs the money. Still though, I think Matt and James were genuinely enjoying the music and the money is just an add on.

Busted was amazing. I can't believe they only ever released 2 albums. I'd really love to get my hands on some of their unreleased tracks though.

charlie used to be my favourite band member, then i realised even a stoned matt willis rocks the f*ck more than charlie. james used to sound quite girly no? but they were great! matt and james are looking for a third band member and may do a reality tv show to find him! great news also they will not be called busted and will have a rockier sound. happy days ahead for music.

Emma and Maisie your both idiots, Fightstar have been on radio 1 loads. in fact they got into the semi finals orf the live lounge best cover versions for there version of Battlefield, as well as 4 tracks from there Alternate Endings album that were b-sides that were recorded in session for the BBC! also they have done sessions for XFM,Last FM and Kerrang Radio! Not that you would hear these as your to busy listening to your local radio station in the hope that between all the xfactor inspired pop that you love they might play paramore!

I just loved Busted..Sometimes I listen to their songs again..They were really amazing for the time but most of their fans still adore the music they made..Charlie was my fav! Busted can make a tour and then go back to their own lives..happy fans,happy ppl!

@ shutup, fightstar tbh are heavy metal, well their earlier stuff e.g. palahniuk's laughter, that IS a metal song and so is the rest of the EP. And you can listen to fightstar while loving tons of other metal, like i do =D better to be open minded then like one specific genre!

Charlie has made a bad choice, its clear he is very happy with fightstar, but Busted were so much better, heavy metal is just depressing. Busted were awesome, I wonder how Charlie would feel if they replaced him with someone, do you think he would mind??

I absolutely loved Busted, they were all very musically talented guys, I still listen to their songs now sometimes because I still love them. I have always loved fightstar aswell, he's got older and you can see thats why he's moved on and creating new music. Everyone on here seems to have to pick which band was better, I love them both, they are both different, and they both had amazingly talented people in them

Charlie thinks he's so big cos he left a band that was making him money to join a mediocre band, you thought you'd be most famous and what do you do now ??? you play the odd gig for a crowd of about 500 when you were in busted you would treble that at least Matt Willis happens to be more famous than you Charlie no one remembers you! you are nothing just rejoin busted and make cash instead of being so far up your own behind you look like the hunchback of notre damme

I think it'd be a shittier move to go back to a band that his heart wasn't in, on the basis to make money, than to stick with Fightstar and his solo stuff. Stylistically, Charlie knows what he wants and he's happy where he is - people need to let go of the fact that Busted may never see a full reformation. Just respect his choices to keep on with music that he actually enjoys, and be thankful that for once a musician ISN'T all about the money. I could care less about both Fightstar and Busted, but I at least have respect for both bands knowing what they want and continuing on their individual endevours, be it fronting a lesser-known rock band or the other guys replacing Charlie.
