The return of Evanescence!

Evanescence will enter the studio later this week to record the follow-up to 2006’s The Open Door.

The band, who now feature singer Amy Lee, guitarist Terry Balsamo, ex- The Revolution Smile guitarist Tim McCord on bass and former Blood Simple drummer Will Hunt, have tapped up Grammy Award-winning producer Steve Lillywhite (30 Seconds To Mars, U2, Chris Cornell) to record the as-yet-untitled effort.

"I can't explain how excited I am to make this record," said Amy Lee. "Over the past year and a half, these songs have become the centre of my life, and I can't wait to hear what they grow into in the studio.

While Lee wouldn’t comment on what direction the next album would take, she did say that the band’s sound is “evolving into something that will surprise people, in a very good way.”

“I feel, as always, that growth can be an incredible, limitless thing if you let it,” she added. “I never want to make the same album twice."

I really cant wait for the new album release. i am a huge evanescence fan and i cant wait to here some more of their incredible work. :)

OMG that's great news!! I've been a fan of Evanescence since 2003 and i'am still a fan now.I Can't wait for the new album and hopefully a uk tour would be amazing. Love you Evanescence and Amy lee!!!!!!

I literally can't wait for this! Evanescence have been for years and still are my favourite band, so I'm extremely excited about their new stuff! I really like the recently released B-Side "Together Again" :)

Yay. I so can't wait to hear this next album, Evanescence have been my favourite band ever since I was 10. They are awsome =]. I can't to see how good this next album will be and i definately dont doubt that it will be good because they are always good =]

About time Kerrang got their act together and actually reported something on this band. Completely missed reporting Together Again even when the b-side was to help towards Haiti, hey kerrang might have even got a few people to donate and download the song if they heard about. Still they are lazy enough to use an old picture outdated picture though

Enough complain from me though, really excited about new music. Check the Rolling Stone article if you can find it on the internet, has some interesting insights into the new music. More than Kerrang is offering at any rate.

ABOUT TIME!!!
I LOVE EVANESCENCE TO DEATH and I'm SO excited about this new record, they sound like they're branching out to new territory with Lillywhite and this album will definatley be interesting!
I hope they blow Ben Moody & his tribute band out of the water!

They ARE my favorite band ever! I love them so so so much! If you know if they are coming to Ireland please tell me and I will get there tickets! never went to see a Rock/Metal band before and I want them to be my first.

I have been getting Kerrang! mag since 2008 or 2007 because I wanted t...o get a poster of Amy Lee or Evanescence and I just go one 4 or 3 weeks ago I think and I love it! You's should put up more Amy Lee posters or even Female posters! I have mostly Male posters :( and some female posters :( I want more and I bet that other people want more females... even girls, so please do us that favor and do that. I have all the posters that you put in the mag this year... 'Rock Goddesses' and I have them up on my wall over my bed lol

P.S. its my first time being on Kerrang. come and it looks cool :)

Oh and to the people that hate 'We Are The Fallen': there a good band just listen to them! their not trying to be Evanescence and aways if you love Evanescence you would have to like them to! if not you only like Amy! I love Amy and the band and I still like 'We Are The Fallen'! so people just listen to them and give them a try.

Hey Delores, that's totally subjective and irrelevant to the topic. We Are the Fallen's album sucks in my opinion. The lyrics were awful and the whole thing was mediocre.
Anyway, back to the topic, I think this album is going to rock despite being different from any other album they've done. Like she said, she doesn't want to do the same one twice, and she sticks by her words.
