Bret Michaels is reportedly in "positive spirits", despite suffering what doctors are calling "a minor setback" after his brain haemorrhage last week.
As previously reported, the Poison frontman was taken to hospital last Friday (April 23), and, after further tests this week, doctors have discovered that the 47-year-old has been left with a sodium deficiency following the haemorrhage which could lead to seizures.
"[His doctors] are hopeful that Bret will gradually improve as the blood surrounding the brain dissolves and is reabsorbed into his system, which can be a very painful recovery and take several weeks to months," said his publicist in an official statement.
Despite the news, Michael's father, Wally Sychak, has told reporters that his son is in "positive spirits."
"He sounded a little slow [when I visited him], but fine," he told the Associated Press. "He was talking, not as cheerful as he usually is. But I guess he is under sedation. But he understood what he was saying and knew me. Everything seemed good that way."
