Silverchair start work on new album

Aussie trio Silverchair are currently working on the follow-up to 2007's Young Modern.

"We're really excited with the sounds emerging from the studio and everyday is a new surprise," writes bassist Chris Joannou on the band's official blog. "The three of us are all really pumped to be back in the studio again making new music together."

No release date has been set.

R.I.P. Silverchair 1994-1999.

Favourite band of all time, but this isn't the same band, hasn't been since the end of the Neon-Ballroom era.

Still love you Johns for the first three albums.

I do agree that it isn't the same music, but it is very much the same band.

I admire them more now that ever before, purely for being confident enough within themselves to accept they were unhappy doing what they were doing and wanted to do something else.

Chris and Ben wouldn't have carried on if they truly didn't enjoy it.

I would say that Silverchair are more a K band than they ever were in the past, being the biggest selling artist in history in Australia seems to have never been enough for them to dominate a piss ant tiny little Island like Britain. It has always baffled me.

Went and saw them on the weekend at Groovin' the Moo and they played a new song which was rather creepy!
